And I still have java script enabled in my browser!

Mind cluing in the (me) software idiot?

Are you telling me that because of this post DanF (by way of PP) has changed this web site?

For some reason I thought this thread was going to be about shipping costs.

For Javascript, you can turn it off and on in every browser I think, but having it off will break a lot of sites. SnusOn works pretty well without it, but some sites won't display anything. That's why it's better to control it selectively if possible. I use NoScript, and block everything by default for security purposes, but it can be frustrating to use for many people. Security isn't free, so I pay for it with a bit of time controlling what sites do on my computer. It also saves me time on occasion. The web's worst sites(tabloidy crap) use the most scripts, so I usually just don't partake when someone links to one of them. It's like cutting white bread from your diet :^D

Now that I know what is going on (thanks to you) I think I have to come to grips with the fact that I would rather put up with the annoyances that come with java script then do what you do (because you know how and are OK with doing it).

    So!

My original post on this thread was indeed answered!

And I'll take that to the bank any day.

    Thank You

    Dan

    Bingo!!!!!

OK lxskllr I disabled java script for Safari!

    Pop up box.....history!

But I think that you are right that I really don't want to do that for the entire browsing experience but on a site by site basis.

    Anyway: I repeat....... Bingo!

My wife is the tech nerd lol I will ask and she if any light can be shed on it, but I can get chrome for iOS so may give it a whirl.

    Good points.

You made me think of at least trying another browser other than Safari. So I came here with FireFox to see if that box would be gone or changed. Same thing!

Your other suggestions are the way to go lxskllr but you have to realize that someone who is not software literate can get themselves into more trouble than they had before by downloading and using plugins and software that they are not adept at fooling around with.

The way I've always learned stuff was to have someone who feels comfortable with it and gives me one on one instructions, in person!

Yes! I want that monster box to go away but I don't want to screw up my computer in the process. And believe me, I've done that in the past.

This is a minor issue (even though I called it major) and I will eventually get some nerd in my house who loves this stuff.

You are an asset to this place for sure. I missed your past absence.

    Dan

With split opinions, some people will just have to deal with it, or fix it on their end. Greasemonkey, NoScript, and Adblock+ can do a lot to change the look of a site from the user end. In fact, you can make it look like anything you want. It just takes a bit of time and knowledge.

Anyway, what do you like, dislike, and how can they be improved? I can't guarantee anything, but that gives a starting point for deciding where to go.
