How does that even add up?? I'm also from ont and most i've got dinged for 5 cans of loose or portions is like $20. I made a order earlier that hasn't came in yet and if my story is the same it's sad to say the joy of tobacco for me may be over.

No legislation regarding tar sands, eh? I wonder what cause more health risk and damage; tar sand mining, or snus?[/QUOTE

With the deficit the way it is, Government will legalize and tax beaver next.

This is what happens when they take away both your guns and knives! I suggest using whips and chains.

I am so sorry to hear that what I considered to be outrageous taxation in Canada has gotten worse! You have little recourse left.

Reducing tobacco consumption is important for improving the health of Canadians. A key component of the Government’s health strategy is to tax tobacco products at a high and sustainable level to discourage their consumption. Economic Action Plan 2013 proposes to eliminate the preferential excise duty rate that currently applies to manufactured tobacco(e.g., fine-cut tobacco used in roll-your-own cigarettes, chewing tobacco) to make it equivalent to that applying to other tobacco products. This measure will increase the rate of excise duty on manufactured tobacco from $2.8925 to $5.3125 per 50 grams or fraction thereof, effective after Budget Day.It is estimated that this measure will increase federal tax revenues by about$75 million in 2013 – 14 and $65 million in 2014 – 15

    Thanks, nanny state.

F*cking donkeys. It will now be cheaper to smoke. Time to start looking south for work again.

I have some dip on the way. Can't wait to see how much it will cost now. Plus *all* my snus orders have been taxed since Christmas.

    2013 Federal Budget (Canada)

Ugh! Don't know if this has been mentioned by any Canadian members here, but if not let me be the bearer of bad news as announced by the Federal Government's Budget for this year......

    Crackdown on spittoons
The budget will increase the excise duty that applies to “manufactured” tobacco, which includes that used in roll-your-own, and in chewing tobacco. It’s a jump of 84%. Bad news for old-timey gunslingers.

F.Y.I. this will apply to snus as well.
