    Best By Date.

I ordered Gotlands Gul from buysnus back in late May. I got the stuff, hated it at first, now i love it.

The best by date was September 23 08. Cool. Plenty of time to use it.

I ordered some more and got it today.

IT HAS THE SAME DATES ON IT THAT MY CANS FROM 2 MONTHS AGO HAVE.

Now mind you, i will obviously use them by then but still though, i thought gotlands was a popular snus. I know alot of you on here love the los and use it regualrly.

Am i getting old cans because im not buying in rolls and these are just singles laying around? Just doesnt make since.

Gotlands is a popular snus on this board, but in Sweden it's definitely a small production from an independent factory. I expect that they probably do something similar to Swedish Match in that they share machines to do different flavours, so the equipment is probably set up to do Gul for some time, then things change out and it does Grey, Green, etc. All the while the cans go into stock and are picked from to do orders so it may even be a matter of a few weeks between when they do one run of Gul and the next, if that makes any sense. Buying from singles stock instead of rolls may still be the other half of the story, but both will probably contribute to the difference.

Anyway, snus preserves well, and it's like meat in that if you freeze it then the best-before date really becomes meaningless. I've personally never had a problem with Gotlands with any date on them - always good and fresh. 8)

        Bast fore:

A lot of my Northener "Best Before" dates is a month before I get it.

I have yet to open a can yet that isn't still moist and fresh. I am storing my excess stockpile (lots!) in the frig to maintain.

Can of Lucky Strike I am holding has Bast fore: 06112008 on it. My order arrived only days ago (like 07-14-08).

            Now!

Now I just feel stupid! (Bonks head into nearest wall!) I wasn't wearing my "skateboard helmet".

            Thanks...

Not sure how or why this changed, I know my dad, educated in the 40's, writes dates 20 July, 2008, not July 20 2008. Probably some grand educational experiment in the 50's or 60's.

                  Euro

Like the "DASH" or "Strike" through the 7 done in Europe.

Because 06 or 11 could have been a month number I thought the 06 was the month.

No wonder my stuff was fresh - all was well all along. It won't make it to November though.

I think mine also has a batch number. I've also been out of retail since I was a kid working in a Department Store and shop like a guy.

I never look at expiration dates and drink milk right out of the jug in the fridge. LOL! (yeah, I'm single!)

Actually, that is how we dated everything when I was in the Navy; the whole military does. They never really explained why it was done that way, but I guess it's more efficient as far as paperwork goes...

Never mind, that explains it. My Dad's a 22 year Navy vet (corpsman), I'm sure that is where he picked it up.

Cool! I was an AE stationed at North Island; worked in AIMD avionics division. This was back in the mid-90's; got shocked a lot, but I loved that job.... 8)
