    Heads up guys

I posted this here because of the traffic

My credit card was stolen today and used in vietnam for a couple hundred bucks.

Thank god for fraud prevention but just a heads up.

This heads up is for you guys buying from buysnus and other companies.

I only use my card for buysnus and have all the virus protection and so on on my computer .. .but it didnt work because buysnus isnt a secure server.

SO keep that in mind guys. If it werent for my bank i would be deeeeeeeeeeeeep in the hole right now.

I'm pretty sure you'll have no problems with your shipment. If the bank stops the payment usually it gets caught up in some international agreement and your bride will be shipped anyways. Congratulation!

I think you got compromised somewhere other than Buysnus. They don't deal with CC#s at all, and their payment service uses 128bit encryption. If you don't use that card anywhere else, I would look hard for a root kit or trojan on your computer.

No. I keep all my anti spyware and virus files updated constantly.

Run weekly checks and so on.

Im just saying ive used my card on the internet before but everytime i go to buysnus its not a secured site.

Every site i go thats secure will display as grren in the url window. Buysnus isnt rated as secure. So somewhere there is a problem there.

So much so my cvv number was also taken thats how they were able to use the card.

The payment portion of Buysnus' site is encrypted. It's done through Samport Payment services. No credit information is sent through an unencrypted connection. A SSL certificate really isn't a guarantee of anything. I could buy one, and use it to harvest credit card numbers. You have to be able to trust the company that has the certificate. Samport's been around since 2003 so I think you can trust them.

Seriously, you need to find out where the breach occurred. I highly doubt it was through Buysnus. If your computer's been rooted, antivirus probably won't pick it up. A/V in general doesn't give full protection. Things can get through and go undetected, especially with some of the substandard A/V products. I would at least give Kaspersky's online scanner a run through. They have the best detection rates in the business http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

Here is a screeny of Samports certificates...

For this reason, I do not use my personal credit card on buysnus or anywhere else online, no matter how secure. My computer is pretty much a sitting duck right now so I won't take the risk. I buy Visa Gift Cards in $50 amounts and use those to buy snus online. Nothing to be stolen, pretty convenient.

Great idea Snusophile. So visa giftcards work on buysnus.com? Do you have to register the Visa giftcards online somehow before you can use them for online transactions?

For some online purchases, you may have to register the card. It takes less than 5 minutes to do, but, I've never had a problem using the card to buy snus without registering. The only drawback to using these cards is you have to pay a $3.95 activation fee at the store, which adds up over time to a lot of potential snus cans.

I have been meaning to post something like this for a while. It seems that many if not most of the folks hear are x-smokers. I applaud you all in your efforts to become smoke free. However, I have come to snus by a different rout and so I want to share my experiences with all those x-dippers who may be looking at this site for suggestions and direction to get started.
