    Whoa, that was wierd! (long)

Ok, I have been avoiding LOS for two years now, since my gum recession paranoia has gotten worse as my gums have. But, I signed up anyway for an all los box pass on that "other less visited" snus site. Well in anticipation, and since even the dog will not kiss me anymore, I dug out a can of Grov from my Pact stash, dated 2009, and it was just as wonderful as I remembered. Nothing like the taste of Grov los to me, maybe Ettan, Pioneer, Gotts Yellow, anyway, yummy!

I also found that while working, I could lip some without getting too wound up on the nic hit, small pinch was easy to conceal too. But here is the deal, I have a boat load of snus in the dedicated fridge, cheap affordable Getsnus cans from 2009, old school SM getsnus, when I got freaked and stocked up bigtime. I spent some quality time vacuum packing a rather obscene amount and it has kept perfectly at minus ten degrees for years. So I thought........

Well I finished the first can, and found that portions now tasted weird compared to the los. Not the first time I have converted from the taste of one to another. But when I dug out a mixed roll of Grov, Ettan, and General los, I cut the top seal and shot in a prilla of ice cold snus los with the Icetool and.......... Nothing! No taste or anything, I put the cans in the fridge and tried them a couple more times over the course of the evening, and got nothing, no taste at all. This really freaked me out thinking I had a freezer full of dud los snus now. Like an idiot, I got on the web and placed a 5 roll order of my favorites, good and fresh, while all the time feeling sick about wasting all that good snus.

Two days later (today), I opened a can of the Dud Grov I tried when ice cold, and it tastes perfect! What a relief, really!

But here is my question, WTF just happened? I thought I had always tasted the snus ice cold too! Did I have a sensory blackout? Stroke? really bugging me now. I know a lot of you guys have had ice cold los. Am I missing something here? I mean thank god I can taste the goodness again, but this event just got the best of me. I mean I was going to cull out the old stuff. Any thoughts?

Why was I unable to taste anything while it was cold, or until it thawed for a couple of days?

I like my los room temperature. That is when the flavor really shines. As any product gets colder, it takes "more flavor" to give it taste. Cold soup always has more salt than a hot soup just so it can be tasted. Cut a piece of fruit in half, refrigerate one half for an hour or so, and compare the flavor. No contest the warmer one will taste better.

Not to be an alarmist.......but this could point to a serious condition

in medical terms its called ..........being a dumb ass for putting frozen snus in your mouth and expecting to taste anything.......other than that you are fine.....

            Or.....simply.......what monkey said
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Aside from the cold which others have mentioned, snus seems to open up after a day or two of opening the can. I'd say a two day open can gives the optimal experience. When you get towards the end, the flavor seems diminished to me.

Well I was without any flavor at all for about two days, I just opened a fresh can of grov los, yum! And had a pris of old grov los just prior, the flavors are the same. I just went blank on being able to taste it for a while.

Dog, thanks for those reassuring words!

                Hmmmm..........Tasty Los!
