Snus isn't for Americans, it's for Scandinavians, at least in the near future. Snus was almost dead in Sweden until the snus revolution in the early 70s. Through whatever cultural change they went went through, snus became acceptable to use by the young, hip, and trendy. It wasn't just for hicks anymore. The new users prefer portions due to the neatness, and no fuss application. Contrast that to America, where smokeless tobacco is still perceived as the hicks tobacco of choice. People that don't use it really aren't likely start, and the one's that do, prefer the traditional form(loose).

As was stated earlier, the people(Scandinavians) that use lös are already well covered for flavor. For a traditional user, how many kinds of plain and citrus snus really need to manufactured? They aren't as likely to be interested in the odd flavors. Lös is a bit of a niche product, and I really don't see that changing in the future. If snus takes off in America as it did in Sweden, I predict that portions will be the preferred form also.

That's what I'm saying though. If snus makes any meaningful inroads in America, I think it'll be with portions. The traditional dip users will keep using the same products they have always used. Any new users will prefer portions. Snus really isn't that big in America. It seems like it's big because we surround ourselves with the culture, but we really are a small group. If America suddenly stopped buying snus, it would barely show up as a blip in the snus makers account books.

America is a huge potential market, but not for lös imo.

Definitely not. I agree. It's not even very manly, which is an issue. And the portions are too manly for most women, like cigars.

IMO, as camel snus starts to spread in the U.S. you will see the interest in snus grow. As for whether or not snus is manly, or los is more manly that portion. I stopped caring about that when I left high school, many years ago. I am a portion user, and you really can't beat the convience. It's all a marketing ploy anyways. Marlboro red, a "manly" cigarette, started out life, AFAIK, as a cigarette for women. The tip of the cigarette was red, so as to cover up womans lipstick stains on the end of the cigarette. Now look at marb. reds, they show cowboys smoking them. IDK.

All I know is we seem to have a significant up tick in new users lately, most who have come to snus after finding an American product. I think Camel is a lousy product backed up by a great marketing company. If Triumph can gain some traction, then it will bring even more users to snus.

I dont care about whether or not a portion is seen as girly or not. I use which ever porduct i like whether its portion or not. Im like you thats high school stuff.

I also agree that triumph is far far superior to any american snus out there and people getting on the snus wagon should not judge it by whatever camel or phillip morris usa has put out.

Real swedish snus has the highest quality and is head and shoulders above the rest. I just wish portion choices were available in both forms. I know this would probably end up creating sub quality snus' as there would eventually be an overstock of certain brands and freshness an issue.

Maybe we could ask for more seasonal brands available in los such as gottlands jul snus and such.

But anyone using camel as a verdict for snus please try the real stuff before judging.
