    Um, yuck!

Hey all, long time no post, I know! After about a year back on the smokes, I quit and decided to go back to snus again. Living in Hawaii now, it's cost prohibitive to ship snus out here so I decided to try a few of the American varieties, and after a bit of trial and error settled on Skoal snus, which was pretty decent, even after using the real deal for so many years. I finally bit the bullet and paid the high tarriff to order a few rolls of General and my old favorite, Thunder Frosted. I waited anxiously for my package and when I got it, I popped open a can of each and immediately noticed a few differences. Why are the portions so much tinier, and what the devil happened to Thunder Frosted? I used to love it so much, but now it just tastes like ass. Justify!!

    Aloha!

I dont know dude, but I think you've gotten too familiar with super sweet and super big pouches Skoal has to offer. I never was into minty snus or dip so I would be up shits crick if I were you.

      Good seein' ya Snus!

How's naval life been treating you? I had a dream last night that I got some Copenhagen snuff. It didn't taste that good in my dream, but it was only a dream, and I'm not that familiar with Copenhagen. Point? I'd probably use that instead of the American snuses. I've had a pinch of Copenhagen twice, and it left a favorable impression. It's definitely more honest than the American crap. I think a small pinch in the upper lip, and you could use it exactly like snus.

Anyway, don't be a stranger. We like smokers here, or at least I do :^D

Btw, Jakobsson's mint's where it's at for minty snus imo :^)

Good to see you back at the farm.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

          Good to see you Phile!

I don't have any experience with Thunder but have read similar complaints about the thin portions. There's some comments on this thread:

Don't even get me started on my weak , thin, flimsy, Thunder berry roll... I think it's a problem right now but my issue was never addressed by V2 so I can't confirm it....

            Good Luck....

I agree with lxs, get ya some copenhagen. Great, unique "grown up" flavor. The skoal pouches (dip) are decent as a dessert. Thunder's mint completely overpowers the tobacco taste, to the point of being just nasty.

Thunder seems to be going through one of their up and down phases at the moment. I got a bunch of cans that were super thin and half empty. They sent me some replacements, straight off the line at V2's factory, and they were much better, but the moisture was so high I had to leave the can open for them to dry out a little bit before I could actually use them.

I don't know if they have crappy machines there or what, but their consistency has pretty much always sucked. You'll get the same kind of portions for 6 months, then they'll be different the next 6 months. It's weird.

Not too bad, hard to believe I'm coming up on two years in now. In many ways, I cannot wait to get out and get back to my old life, but I've learned so much from all the friends I've made and I've had some crazy experiences that most people would never believe...

Also, been off the cigs a while now and just as before, with snus I have no desire to smoke again. I'm a little ticked that the shops here stopped selling nasal snuff, citing a ban by the state?

Don't know about Hawaii, but I'd find that hard to believe. I think whoever you asked, misinterpreted what they were told. The FDA now requires manufacturers to submit their ingredients, and Pöschl didn't want to play. Since they're the primary player in tobacco shop snuff, it virtually equals a ban. Toque is in-country, but I don't know how wide distribution is. Look for Silver Dollar snuff. That's Toque's new product for Americans. There's also American snuff, but they aren't terribly common outside the traditional sphere of influence(south and rural areas).

I'm a Thunder Frosted Long+ user and I have noticed some variability in the product. Once in a while I get a can with a bunch of thin portions. Sometimes I get one that is super moist (have to air it out a couple days before its "normal"). Other times I have gotten a few portions that seem to have a normal amount of tobacco but they were very plump and short (shorter than the mini's).

I love the Thunder Frosted but I wish it was a bit more consistent. Seems to always be one can per roll that is a bit "off" in one way or another.
