I'm with Toddzilla. Baking takes too much time. Just pinch it, press against the side of the can a bit, shove it up there, and shape it with the tongue.

I use mostly Los now. in the house or out. Whenever.

GES los is awesome, but I got some Skruf Stark Los with my last order and I think it is just as good, plus I like the cans better. Keeping snus in cardboard is just ridiculous.

Skruf loose is amazing, as well as GES loose. I've had problems with the cardboard as well, apparently it is a traditional thing which is why they keep making them in fiberboard cans. I actually started a thread about that before...The best thing you can do is switch cans with the respective portion can. The SM los cans are horrible, cause the snus to dry up within days. I open a can of say, GES, and throw it in a general portion can... I have not had one dry up on me or lose flavor since...they stay as fresh as they were opened, and I usually have it open around a month or so in the fridge.

A can of GES los lasts you a month? I'm lucky if one lasts me 4 days.

If I didn't bake it somewhat, I think it'd all fall apart quickly.

A can lasts me a long time, as I only use 3-4 prillas a day.

Los has better flavor, more control, better price and most importantly is more comfortable for me.

Portions do have their place...in the back of the freezer....for super discreet snusing.

you've probably got yourself with a huge tolerance

I found out lately that some of my headaches are due to due los snus..... taken in huge pinches .. especially the stronger one..... I get a terrible headache with pressure in my forehead

              does anyone else get this?

That's why I sticked to dip and portions lately.

Jdman you should definitely start out small. Many loose versions can be hard to take in fat portions at first but are perfectly okay in smaller ones. Handbaking is fine but an excellent alternative is what we here call a "ghetto tool'. Go get yourself a cheapo 3cc syringe at the drugstore--3cc is perfect--5 is too big as are children's dosing versions. Cut off the needle end and smooth it out a bit. Run the plunger out flush with the end and poke a safety pin in the plunger shank right at the end of the barrel so the plunger won't exit the end. Start with about 1/2 inch of space in the tube, plunge the tool into the loose, make a pack on the firm side and then just insert that directly under your lip. Push the pris into place with your tongue if need be but don't fool with it after that. Don't intentionally press on your lip to make it conform. That will happen in a few minutes. The world of los awaits. Enjoy enjoy enjoy.

I usually have 8-10 open cans at a time, so a can of los can last awhile depending on how much I use it..

I don't bake los. I pinch the tobacco and compress it against the inside of the can. It's much quicker and cleaner.

of my experience having 10 cans of loose at one time is not a good thing do to ...

3 or 4 will dry up if you're not a heavy user.

I like my snus fresh and have 3 cans open now at most.

I do find a few of them dry up slightly, and I'm looking at cutting back on opened cans... just nice to have a variety I suppose. Usually I'll realize one is starting to dry up and get a paper towel damp with distilled water and throw it in, the snus seems fine a few days later.

For the most part, depending on the brand/can, they have been keeping quite nicely. I've only really had trouble with phantom drying up, granted any one can is usually in there about a month, although the rest of the cans I have open seem pretty solid.

                          Toddzilla,

General los is solid, very good. I'd say the two I would recommend are Ettan Los (my fav) and General Extra Stark Los. Enjoy!

I've heard nothing but good reviews for Ettan los. That will be my first los I try.

I had trouble getting all the flavor from Ettan when I tried it. That was my first lös, and I found it underwhelming. I think your tastebuds need to be trained to get all the flavor from the mellower snuses, lös particularly. I just mention that so you aren't disappointed. General might be a better choice due to stronger flavoring.

I don't know if my experience is typical, but that's how it was for me. After trying Ettan, I didn't think I was a lös guy. I figured I'd get the occasional tin for tradition's sake but not really use it much. Landströms changed that for me. That had a huge taste for a plainer snus. It's a real bitch to use, but completely worth it. I imagine it's what snus was like 100 years ago. Everybody should get at least 1 tin for the experience. It's a boutique snus by a micro maker, and there's nothing close to it on the market in lös or portion form.

I just took my Landstroms out of the freezer, and gonna use it for the 1st time tomorrow morning with coffee, and I'll write a review.
