Wow, I just tried Onyx again after a week or so and I actually liked it. It didn't get slimy either. Maybe I just need to pop a portion in every few days to enjoy it.

I like Onyx but for some reason I always feel ill after having an Onyx and then moving to another brand. I've never had the 'slimy' problem with them before but that might be because I live in Aus and it takes two weeks to arrive and then it's sitting in my letterbox for half the day soaking in the 35'C sun. I'm using a mocca Lakrits Vit Miniportion right now that my sister, who is visiting from Norway, bought for me in duty free and it feels quite . . . slimy.

I call the 'hairs' on the Onyz 'fibers' and tell people they are there to help with friction in the gum.

I've been using Onyx for 2 days now (alternating with phantom blue los) and I really like them. No slime, just delicious lemony goodness. However, they do not last very long at all. I get a lot of good flavor/juice for about 20-30 minutes and then it's just gone. Does anyone else find this to be true? As a side note....phantom blue los...WTF...can't figure it out but I'm love'n that stuff right now. I think I get some chocolate in it like an ETTAN portion and then the juniper towards the end....no windex at all.....thoughts?

I have a hard time sucking extra flavor out of Onyx like I do with other portions. That's related to the slime factor. It turns into a slimy blob that doesn't allow moisture to pass through, unlike normal portions.

They tend to get a little rich in flavor for me if I use them all day. The drip also is pretty heavy with a fresh can. Not sure but it always hit me as a peppary, margarita flavor.

I like them but like the standard flavor much better.

I will take all unwanted Onyx!! Where's the love? This is the best snus SM makes (after General White) You can burn yourself out on them if you use too many in a row, that's why I open a can every other month or so.

                Here's an idea: General Pearl

The name sounds stupid, but that's beside the point. Simply make a "sister" brand of Onyx -- the same General Onyx recipe in white portions. Maybe it would be appealing to more people.

I must not have liked it too much. Never had the desire to order another can.

Delayed reaction to this thread, but Onyx is actually the only SM product that I will buy.

Black portions are made the same way as white portions, but dyed black. At least that is my understanding. I was beating off to Onyx when I first tried it but I lost interest pretty quick. As others have said it's too slimy. Do they still charge more for it?

True, but white portion material is less harsh on the gums (at least for me). Additionally, most prefer white portions over black portions; Nick & Johnny Black was switched to White in order to increase sales. Having two variations of Onyx, one Black, another White, would broaden market share and make everyone happy.
