I just popped open my can of general onyx and I noticed a very strange stench. Almost like a chemical windex smell to it. Anyone else ever smelt this before , or any clue what it is?

Specifically it's the citrus flavors, and/or some ammonia, especially if the snus is particularly fresh.Comment

Once the can has 'aired out' a bit you should be good to go.
With ONYX, you can't go wrong, IMO.

ammonia ... same with snuff.....
The first time I've opened a tin of Toque I felt sick from the smell and later on started to air them on a sheet of paper (don't do that with snus, unless you want to dry the portions)Comment

Nah, it's not bad for you. It's an integral component of many foods. In tobacco, it's a natural part of the aging process, and very freshly prepared tobacco will have ammonia. It never really spoils, but it will dry out. Imo, it's better to just stick the snus in your mouth, and don't smell it if the smell bothers you.
