... i cannot figure the appeal of using loose in the first place...

I also had to struggle a bit till I became a loose aficionado. I almost even settled entirely on portions, but I gave the loose a second chance, because the overall experience for me was good from the beginning, apart from some prillas that immediatley began to run over my teeth or went too juicy, what surely happens to most beginners.

Snus was on the market for around 150 years solely as loose snus, before anyone had the idea to put it in tea-bags. There must be a reason for this.

I have no problem hand baking a pris of my General, my problem is that I get no flavor from just putting it in and leaving it alone. Does anyone have any tips for doing this without getting mudmouth?

Same with taking it out, any tips?
