Reviews for Oomph Citrus & Menthol 6g.

Up until now, I've been posting under the Oomph 3MG thread. My comments here are directed towards the 6MG portions.

When I first tried to quit smoking with snus, I thought that the Oomph 3 and/or 6MG portions would do the trick. Well, for me at least, that did not work!

As a pack a day smoker, Oomph did not provide me with enough nic to curb my urges. It took ES portions, with Thunder Frosted being the mainstay, to turn the trick.

Today, I still use ES portions; however, I usually limit them to two or three a day. I've slowly stepped down to 8MG portions with the new regular sized General White Mints, Lucky Strike Whites, Skruf Original Whites and 01's all being part of my regular rotation.

Now, that being said, let's get back to Oomph. As I mentioned, when I first started snus, the Oomph products lacked the staying power for me. In fact, the flavor seemed to last only about five minutes and then it seemed like I was sucking on a piece of paper!

I recently returned to the Oomph 6MG line. Much to my surprise, the flavor now lasts about 30 to 45 minutes; however, the low nic content still keeps me reaching for 8MG and the occasional ES portions. The paper taste now only appears after I keep an Oomph portion in for about an hour.

IMO, I had to kick cigs and become accustom to snus before I could fully appreciate the Oomph product line.

The Oomph product line offers snus users many benefits: Purified Portions (low TSA's); a discreet mini size; unique flavor combinations; the oral hygiene benefits of Xylitol and Baking Soda; and, cool packaging.

My go to Oomph is the 6MG Citrus/Menthol; however, I enjoy the occasional 6MG Licorice/Lemon. I also enjoy the Wine & Dine portions with coffee after a large meal and the Energy Portions (unique to Northerner.com) for a quick "pick me up."

The Citrus/Menthol has a distinctive Lemon flavor with minor notes of Menthol. The Licorice/Lemon is the same, with the Lemon flavor being predominant over the Licorice. The Wine & Dine portions have no flavor and offer a nice accompaniment with food.

The Energy Portion is nice to have on hand when you are looking for something different that has a minor kick. The predominate taste here is that of Honey with a slight herbal note provided by the Taurine and Guarana. IMO, as far as energy portions go, the Northerner Oomph product blows away Elxyr. If you don't believe me, just read the reviews at Northerner.com.

During the 2009 season, Oomph released a special Christmas portion that Northerner currently has on sale for $2.57 until supplies run out. This special release combines the flavors of Cinnamon, Cardamom, Vanilla and Apple for a cool refreshing 6MG treat. I've stocked up on these and should have an ample supply until Christmas 2010 rolls around.

Readers should note that all Oomph products are mini's and very dry. It is recommended you wet the portion on your tongue for 10 to 20 seconds before placing the portion under your lip.

In the final analysis, I would recommend the 6MG Oomph line to non or very light smokers and/or those that have developed a mature snus palate. If you have been using snus for a year or more and have never tried Oomph, it is worth adding a tin to your next Northerner order... or, if you have some Northerner points built up, try the Energy Portion located in their Bonus Section.

As WA3ZRM said I don't think I'd recommend this for people trying to kick the pack a day habit. I also started with the sterks and used it to put the cigs down. Now that I'm strictly a snuser though, I find this to be a regular. Smaller and definately drier than other snus on the market, I find that it's perfect for work or even home when being discreet is a must. You have to wet the portion prior to insertion to prevent inhaling the "dust". The flavor is very light with a pleasant lemon after taste. No drip what so ever.
Though the purified snus was not a type I was initially drawn to, it has become a stable part of my low TSNA diet. If it's been a while since you tried one...try it again.

I agree with the above -- not a snus to kill a cigarette craving, but discreet, nice flavor (if not particularly long-lasting), and well-designed can. Not a major winner in my book, but a nice one to have around when the occasion requires.

Ordered it for my sister, but it took 3 weeks to arrive and she had already kicked the habbit with gum. So i got it and it is suprisingly good and decent snus for a girly snus, actually it hold very well even with SM products.. It even burned more than thunder. Taste is the best part, very mild sweet citrus and menthol. Very mild and enjoyable.
Definetely gonna order it more. Little more nic and it could be one of my favourite ones.

I had funny encounter with it too. Gave it to my girlfriend and she panicked when half of her face went numb. Seems there is nic hit, but i wouldnt recomend it to guys who like harder hitting snus. But i find it very quality taste.

              haha.

And remember Krahv this baby lasts longer than Tutenkhamen's cod-piece so be sure to keep it for converting another smoker.

I found the Northerner purified to have a harder nic hit than 8mp portions and even a cigarette. Crazy I know but that was my experience as a long time tobacco user.
