I can give you a crass american opinion: its smooth and I can drink a ton of it.
Gotta stay from the Irish stuff. I think its in the genes or something, but I blow through it like a pile of cake at fat camp.

Tullamore Dew is the best Irish whiskey in it's price range imo. My favorites are Red Breast, and Black Bush though.
