    Love the snus!

Not really new to the stuff per say, I've used it on and off for a little while now...to quit smoking obviously...but it's definitely a beast all it's own! :-P

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself...I was never a big smoker...only about 5 a day...and I find myself using about the same amount of snus. And it's an infinitely enjoyable habit...I just had a Ettan portion in for almost two hours without absolutely zero flavor lose...unbelievable if you ask me...viva la snus! :-D

          Welcome to Snuson Smalmagal

You brought up some interesting points I am not sure folks appreciate enough. You mentioned that you were never a frequent smoker, and your snus use hasn't really caused you to increase your nicotine use. Most of us where fiendish smokers, but the few other infrequent smoker who started using snus here all said the same thing as you. Now that they have moved to snus, they too use 3,4, maybe 5 a day.

I am glad you decided to finally join us.

Yeah...I've been reading around here for a little while, and I've found that odd too. Some people here go from like a pack a day and then can't even handle one snus when they start out...which makes sense, you're body isn't used to the new way of taking in nicotine. I luckily never had this problem though. When I first started a couple years ago, I couldn't keep 'em for more than 20 or so mintues, now I can easily go an hour and 20 minutes +

When you get outta the mentality of the snus trying to replace the cigarette (or at least it was that way for me) it becomes a different habit. Cause, like you said, I was never a huge smoker, my I find my tolerance to nicotine to be quite high...maybe because I smoke hand rolled cigarettes for a time...who knows. Anyway, I don't mind enjoying the occasional cigarette, and I see nothing wrong with that, it's the habit itself I don't ever want to go back to!

              Bingo, Bingo, Bingo Smalmagal!!

I have been saying for years, one of my greatest pleasures in snus is now I can have a cigarette when I WANT, and never again just because I NEED. I love my one cigarette every month or so, and still love the social aspect of sharing a cigarette with someone. And no, sharing a snus is NOT the same!!

I too find that the nicotine delivery of snus is just so superior. three + years ago, when I first started using snus, I had no intentions of quitting smoking, but over the next 4 months, I just came to love how snus handled my nicotine issues so much better, so much smoother. And funny thing, over the past 3 years, I have found myself using less and less snus. I probably use half now of what I did 3 years ago. As long as my basic needs are covered, I don't find myself "pushing it" with snus.

That's the thing I love about snus...you're in absolute control! With a cigarette it was more a need than I want...when your throat is sore and your lungs ache, you don't really "crave" inhaling toxic chemicals, you crave the nicotine. With snus, you pop it in and go and take it out whenever you want. I find, It's more of a "good idea" thing than an actual "need." I've been on and off smoking/snusing for about 5 years, but I always keep coming back. I'm only 23, BTW, but nicotine for me is a wonderful drug...call it self medicating if you will, but if I can enjoy it somewhat safely then so be it!

And oh, thanks for all the welcomes! It's definitely an obscure habit around here, so it's nice to find a place to talk about the snus! :-D

In three years, I have met exactly one person out in the public who used snus too. So yeah, very obscure, whole reason I fell in so hard with Snuson. Here I was using a product that would have to go into the top 3 best things I have ever discovered, and no one around who even knows anything about it. So yeah, Snuson comforting that way.

BTW, if you look hard enough, you will see the many, many posts I have made over the years talking about how I specifically use nicotine as medicine. I have ADHD, and had a bad speed habit 20 years ago. So using amphetamines as a treatment is simply not an option for me. About 7 years ago, scientists made the link between nicotine and ADHD and discovered that nicotine is about as effective as Ritalin is. I even quit snus after a year in due to a girlfriend with a heart problem, and I became almost non functional that next month without nicotine.

Yoooo, welcome to the site!! I smoked a lot for a long time too, and once I quit I was so scared to even be around them. After about two months of not smoking and steady snus use, the fear of being around smokers was gone. I realized that cigs didn't have the same hold, or hold the same allure for me. I've even smoked a couple times to see how it would feel.

It was like seeing a childhood friend that you sort of liked, you do a quick "catch up on life", shake hands and then realize..."I didn't like that guy as much as I thought", lol
