Los is my mainstay and I only use portions when discretion is required. In general there will be a taste difference between los and its portion version. For example, a lot of folks get a chocolate back note from Ettan portions that is just not there in the Los.
As far as where to start:
Mustang is a really good straightforward snus
Grov and Ettan are both great to start with and are classics
Knox will give you a good dose of pepper
I like General ES los (it is one of my favorites). It too has a good pepper presence
Chad loves Prima Fint.......I could never taste it. It was just so mild flavor wise. Still it is very much worth a try (everybody's taste are different)
Same with regular ol General- to me it tastes like putty (however it is the single best selling snus in the world- so that should tell you how much I know)
Anyway try a variety and find a few that you like.
In the meantime you might want to check out the Dipper's Guide to Snus- it is about all things los a lot of folks have contributed a lot of good info and tips that you may find helpful. You can find the Guide here: LINK

Grov is good for a straightforward tobacco taste. And General of course. Can't beat General.

Los (Loose)
Well Hello There!
As a relative newbie to snus I was wondering if I could get any recommendations for trying a loose snus. (Never tried one before!)
I enjoy wintergreen flavors as well as some of the spicy flavors(Pepper, Cinnamon,Clove). I'm not a huge fan of bergamot and citrus.
Also, Should I be expecting the loose to be essentially equivalent to a portion but in a loose form? Or is the loose snus somehow different than what's inside the portions?
Thanks so much!
