How much to order?

Hi Guys and Gals, i have made my very first order for snus, its actually for my husband, he has been trying to quit smoking for as long as i have known him obviously unsuccessfully. Anyway i ordered 10 cans of different brands and flavours and the website was kind enough to throw in 1 extra for free during check out. I got all white portions no loose stuff.

What i am wondering is how long will 11 cans last or at least how long should 1 can last? If it takes 2 weeks for it to arrive to us here in Australia should i be putting in another order in a week or so or just wait and see if he actually likes it before making the next order? I would hate for him to love the snus and then run out due to shipping times.

Welcome to the site.

I would think that you will have plenty of time to order more. I believe most users use about 2 to 3 tins a week. Using 1 tin a day isn't the norm.

I'd hold off until you/he know how well it goes. You also want to hone in the flavors he likes. Normally my advice would be to order as much as possible at one time, but Australia has a nasty customs service. Some of our Aussies may have better advice, but I'd keep orders around 5 tins at a time.

If it helps, a tin lasts me 2 to 3 days. Have your husband come on the forum and he will get plenty of advice and support from former smokers. You are an awesome wife to do this for him.

some would probably disagree but my recommendation is to try general mint and wintergreen especially if you live in the US. When i found snus i went all out and ordered 30-40 cans of diferrent flavors. Most of them i hated at first. Real sweedish snus has a lot of flavors i was not used to at first. After a while I got used to and liked a lot of different brands and flavors, but general mint is still one of my favorites. If he doesnt like minty flavors i suggest Ettan. That was another flavor i liked from the beginning.

Thanks for the replies That makes me feel better, i was thinking if he used a can a day i would be in trouble, but from what i see we should have enough time to decide.

I have seen that customs isn't very nice to us Aussies and the website i purchased from actually split my order in 2 separate lots being sent on different days so hopefully we get lucky and they slip through, i was also advised to use Swedish post and not UPS for that reason so my fingers are crossed.

GoVegan i would love for him to come on the forum, but he is really anti anything electronical, i am going to have to do all the research and educate him. I have told him about snus and asked if he was excited to try it and his enthusiasm is not great, i am actually getting more excited about it than him! He does really want to quit smoking though so i feel like we have some hope there.

These are the flavours i ordered, i hope i have at least a couple good ones in there that he might like. I am thinking though that the fruity flavours suit females more? Im not sure but maybe i will end up stealing the ones he doesn't like then.

You got him one nice assortment there. Just remember, snus works but the nicotine doesn't hit as fast as a cigarette. He may need to leave it in his mouth for 20 minutes or so to feel it kick in. Also, it might take a while but he will probably prefer the snus over smokes eventually. Just let the snus slowly take over.

I'm a new snuser that used to smoke as well. I might advise you to get some mini's as well? Since we aren't really used to sticking things in our lips the regular size might be uncomfortable for him (it was a little for me at first) so throw in a can or 2 to be safe! I recommend thunder frosted mini extra stark, same nicotine as in a regular portion

General mint is really good. That was all i used when i first started. I heard the thunder cola is pretty good but i havent used it myself though.

Just a quick update... My packages arrived today, 10 days delivery no customs tax or anything Hubby is not as excited as me, so i shall just wait until he is ready to crack a can. Wish me luck!
