    Howdy all

I am new to the board and fairly new to Snus.

I have made the switch about 2 weeks ago now, and so far so good. When it gets to the rebellious temps that it can over here in the middle east its nice not to go outside.

I have used the northerner so far and they are excellent at delivering to the third world.

I have tried thunder, jakobssons, thunder ultra, general, and of course a few years ago the crappy camel stuff.

I was a heavy smoker at 1.5-2 packs a day, now I'm happily snusing . I used to dip about 1 can a day and still smoke half a pack when actively dipping.

My first snus was a thunder ultra and Ive been loving it ever since.

Looking forward to reading more and sharing more about this unique and wonderful habit.

Welcome to Snuson! If you enjoy high nicotine snuses like Thunder Ultra you should also try Odens Extreme snuses

Welcome to the boards! I hope you're staying safe out there. Snus is a great way to quit cigarettes and dip while staying alert. Where are you from?

I am from the US, and am presently in Dubai.

The only thing I haven't liked so far is olde ving. I don't care for the US camel products either.
I enjoy the lower nic snuses i have tried previously, but to make the switch I needed a solid nic push. Now I am looking forward to my next order of regular strength snus.

I also found a great way to revive a semi dried can. Put some Bourbon in a cup over ice, put the cup on a open can and let the cup sweat while enjoying the contents :-) Repeat as necessary.

I have no desire to use Los, but other than that I'm open to suggestions.

So far I have learned the hard way about ordering from the Northerner, if you order v2 products they will ship separately from the rest. If shipping via ups like I have to to get delivery, they will only ship the v2 and send the rest via regular post. I have to place 2 orders to actually get my snus.

Other than this mishap, life is good if a little hot.

I know you want to get to regular strength snus but there's no rush. Sterks won't to you a jot of harm and they'll be useful in keeping you off the cigs. There will definately be times where you'll reach for a sterk so my advice is get some in. Seriously, try Odens Extreme. It's not as strong as the name suggests and the taste is much better than Thunder.

Thank you all for your encouragement!

I went back and revisited Old Ving. I am now a fan! The only thing I didn't care for was the can, which broke upon impact falling off my desk. I think its made from space age crappytainium. The Snus was still intact thankfully .

I have settled on General Onyx as my go to portion of choice and I will be ordering a roll in a few days. Its slightly stouter then regular portions, but not a hard kicker like thunder. And the taste is amazing! Perfect for my all day snus use.

I use 3 ES portions a day, one in the morning upon waking up, one after lunch and one before bed (Nic dreams kick ass BTW!) I use regular for the rest of the time and I am fine.

I have also changed my mind on trying loose, and I ordered Odens original ES loose, Grovsnus, Ettan, General, and Göteborgs Rape for my first foray into the loose snus realm. I ordered 2 cans of each as a buddy at work wants to quit cope, and doesn't like portions. I also got 2 of the Pris-master tools.

Other than 2 instances of being so far into a nic fit that I had a ES portion in and I still wanted a smoke(I did not BTW) it has been a pretty quick and smooth transition this time. I know deep down its for good.

I may not ever quit nicotine successfully in my life time and I accept that. My ADD is pretty bad without nicotine in my life to help medicate. I went 9 months nic free and even my friends noticed that I had a worse time staying focused. I started dipping and I could focus again. I was fine with just using Skoal and Cope, but after 1 holiday with my wife and her freight train smoking habit when the kids aren't around and it was over. The dipper in me sometimes fiends pretty hard, so I found that if I put the pouch in my lower lip from time to time while snusing as normal, this seems to kill that urge completely.

By using Snus I can at least limit harm, get the nicotine, master my habit and go back to enjoying fine tobacco all in one simple step. I have decided that if I must dance with Mr Brownstone I want to lead, not follow.

All addictions aside, I have always enjoyed the wonderful taste of good quality tobacco, even before smoking and dipping regularly. I have also noticed that when the strong cravings hit, it hasn't been anywhere near as bad as when I was smoking and I can deal with it as needed. For the stong nic fits, I waited till it had passed and then used a portion. I am hoping this will help to remove some of the triggers.

Upon reflection I have come to realize one key thing with my previous failures to quit smoking in the past are usually caused by the severing of the social aspect of smoking. My friends would go outside and chat it up while puffing away, and here I am stuck inside. Now this time I put lots of thought into it, and came up with my plan to quit and have stuck to it like glue. When everyone goes outside, I go with them and bring my Snus. I still get the nic, and the social aspect of the old habit all in one shot so life is good. To my sheer amazement no one cares, though I have had a few questions from time to time. So long as I don't spit on the ground in the smoke pit nobody minds at all. If I would bust out the cope or skoal they would run back inside as quickly as possible, even if I gutted it.

1 month down, many many many more to go.

Great Job Byron! I am in the same boat as you snusing and loving it. Its amazing how much I'm hacking up my lucks as they are healing from not having the smoke though. I think that starting snus and trying all the different flavors is one of the things that is most fun and exciting about the whole experience. Keep up the good work and good luck being smoke free!!

Hey, good read thanks for the updates. I have a question on what snus to start on for a high-nic habit, have been dipping for 2 years for the last six months have only been using grizz wintergreen couldnt match the high nic content and rush. I just started working in a warehouse so I've been trying to make the switch the snus, In a local store in Seattle I have found most general brands, Jakobsson and a few select thunder. What would you recommend out of that selection to use for high nic?

So far ive only tried Jakobsson's classic strong portions and Thunder xtreme frosted strong, the flavor of the classic portions is awesome and lasts a long time although i feel a real lack of nicotine. The thunder ones on the other hand are pretty strong and even burn a bit at first, however im not sold on the spearmint flavor and only gets worse as time goes on.

Wings855, i suffer if i use anything other than Skruf Stark portions or los but your mileage may vary... i hope you find what works for you. Try all or as much as you can! Best of luck.

                            Wings,

First off I am still a new Snuser, and I am basing my opinions listed here on the few cans of each that I have on hand.

Do you prefer tobacco taste or flavored? IE Cope regular to Skoal Apple?

When I dipped it was alternating Cope, Cope black (When available), and Skoal apple which was my favorite.

For a direct Cope replacement I found General Stark and Probe whiskey to be excellent substitutes for the flavor so far.

For Skoal so far thunder seems to get er done.

Now however since starting snus I have found tobacco to taste far better than flavors. General Onyx, General ES, Grovsnus and Gotteburgs rape seem to be my go to flavors.

I still have some I am working through on the loose side, Odens ES (2 full Prilla on a pris master tool = fried in a good way , Gotteburgs rape loose which is way better than potions. WAY better flavor and feels like a lump of butter under the lip.

Etan is taking some getting used to, If I use a firm hard compression it works great until the slide.........but I do love the taste.

What happened with the Thunder isn't putting enough nic out thing, I chain them. At 30 min mark, I pop in a new thunder es. 15 min I remove the old one. This kept the nic flowing at the "A-game" level. Do this once during the highest stress time during your day. This will help and you can step down to a lower nic portion like a regular General ES.

Feel free to PM me for the limited knowledge I have rattling round my brain.

My plan to quit smoking / dipping was to hit the nic hard via snus and not look back. So far its working.

Then transition slowly back down to a regular portion. Its semi working so far, just another month or 2 and I will be all regular portion all the time.
