    Snus newbie

    Hello,

Nice site glad to be able to join. I bought my first two cans of snus this past week, the two that are available to me locally here in the united states (Oregon). Ettan portions and a can of General loose. Also a free Prismaster. I like them both but the portions don't seem to help with my former dip or cigarette cravings. The general was a good experience though all the way through. I have bought a can of Copenhagen last night and have decided not to return to dipping,
I almost would like to toss it. I haven't made an online order because it's
A big buy at once with shipping and
    All and a can of
    Loose
Has lasted me four days. I figure
I would need to buy 30 cans to make an online purchase worth it. I am interested in trying something a little
Stronger than regular and am open to flavors.
Here I can get a roll of general original for $55.
I guess I'm asking for some suggestions. loose is a little messy removing, what about some Strong portions? I think loose is my best bet, what do other former dip and
    Cigarette users prefer?

    Thank you!

    Welcome!

    I am a former cigarette smoker and I use sterk/stark extra sterk/stark.
Nick & Johnny and Odens Extreme are a few strong snuses I recommend although I use way more than those two. Anything think you buy and dont like you can always throw in the freezer and come back for a revisit or put it up on the Exchange here at SnusOn.
Would type more but I got a baby cryin.

      Welcome to the forum Mtschust!

      I would suggest you trying:

Nick & Johnny Strong (White or original portions if you can find them)
General Ekstra Sterk Loose / General Ekstra Sterk Portions
      General Strong White
      Odens Extreme Portions/Loose
      Thunder Wintergreen/Frosted/Original
      General Long Sterk
      General Onyx
      Skruf Stark / Extra Stark
Odens Extra Stark (Kanel/Cinnamon, Original or Lakrits/Licorice)
      Jakobssons Wintergreen/Mint/Original

Those are all strong, and will remove your cigarette and dip craving for sure.

        Welcome!

As a former cigarette smoker I have actually found most snus very good for quitting.
I like the "normal" strength snus a lot, but when I get bad cigarette cravings I just pop in a extra sterk pouch - I hardly ever use lös(only on emergency occacions, like when I run out and that's all they have at 7-11) since it's so messy.
But basically, just stick with snus, it'll make you feel tons better!

I second the welcome and the recommendation for Oden's Extreme

Also General comes in an extra Stark (extra strong) as does Skruf and Thunder. There is also a Thunder Frosted (mint) which is stark

Probe is also on the strong side...........it has a taste much like American chewing tobacco.
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Good information thanks. I won't be buying a large order though for at least a month, got one of those nasty photo red light things in the mail today.

But when I do order I was hoping to get at least 3 rolls. Otherwise it would just be cheaper to buy general at the store. I have had my can of loose open for almost 5 days and it is on its last couple portions. My question about this is, is 30 cans too much to try and store at once? I noticed the open can is already drying out a little and I have kept it refrigerated almost the whole time I have had it home, although it did spend half a day in a hot car.

Just throw your unopened cans in a ziploc and put it in the freezer until you need them. They will stay fresh for well over a year. I make 30 can orders every 4 months or so, at a cost of about $300 per year. I used to spend that on cigarettes in 2-3 months, so I'm more than happy with the transition to snus from a financial standpoint.

I echo the comments above that strong, or sterk/stark snus would be best for you at the beginning of quitting the cigs/dip. As a dipper, loose snus is probably more up your alley. General Ekstra Sterk los (now Extra Strong on cans sold in the U.S.) with 12mg/g nicotine is a good bet as you work your way up to things like Oden's Extreme at 22mg/g nicotine.
