This is an excellent approach. The downside is you don't know what you'll get. You could get 2 rolls of the same thing :^D It's a small gamble though, and you can put stuff you don't like on the exchange, or just eat the cost. It's not a big expense in the grand scheme of things.

I think it said no more than 3 cans of one type, but don't quote me...and I'm too lazy to go back to Northerner's painfully slow site to check.Originally posted by lxskllrThis is an excellent approach. Great choices, and I hope you enjoy it!Originally posted by Brandon250rHere's what I'm gonna order for my first los order thoughts? comments?
Ettan, Loose
General, Loose
Odens Original Classic, Loose
Offroad Original, Loose
Offroad, Wintergreen Long Cut
Mainly because thats what getsnus.com has and their shipping is lower than buysnus, I would have liked to get a skruf too but since its all greek to me I wont know until I start getting some in
I tried treating lossnus like dip once or twice (lower lip, loosely packed) and wasn't a fan. It's ground finer than Cope snuff, so unless you're a super seasoned dipper, it's bound to end up getting everywhere in your mouth. Additionally, it seemed to juice up much moreso than dip in my experience, so you'll probably be inclined to spit. If you can get into doing it the traditional way -- packed up into a prilla put into the upper lip -- it can easily last for an hour with no uncomfortable superjuice going on.
Ettan is pretty easy to portion up in the hands. Just grab a pinch and place it in your palm, cup it, and use the thumb and index fingers of the other hand to form it into shape. Once it's all together, you can gently grip it between the fingers and snug it up further. Pretty much good to go at this point. Once you have some room in the can, you can just do this on the inner edge of the can instead of your palm. After a couple of tries, you should have this whole process down to like 10 seconds!

I think the bad reviews are mostly aimed at thier portions. the loose has alot of fans, me being one of them: Offroad Original Lös. Holds together well and tastes good!Originally posted by Brandon250r
Was reading some reviews on the offroad as well. Seems like mixed reviews on liking it or not oh well dont know until I try it I guess lol

Bite your tongue on the Gellivare comment! I am sure that Northerner has cases and cases of the stuff on the way now. Not only that, but hopefully they will reintroduce Gellivare with a great promotion like free shipping and 3 free cans with each roll purchased!Originally posted by lxskllrWelcome to SnusOn!
I'm a huge fan of Pioneer. Great taste, and you get more per tin, though the tin is kind of crappy. I use lös almost 100% of the time. Here's my top 5 that are still on the market. I also second the Oden's Extreme for flavor, but it's too strong for me, and therefore not on my list. It is a must try though. You might not be as sensitive to the nicotine as I am.
Pioneer
Gotland Grå
Ettan
Offroad Licorice
General
I didn't list the Gellivare products, as they're currently AWOL, and I'm not sure they'll be back
On that note, Granit los will work nicely until Gellivare returns.

Nice findOriginally posted by MawdrynHave you looked at this? As much as I hate Northerner, I might be tempted to buy a can or two of the ones on your list, and then maybe two of this deal...Northerner's "Soon to Expire Los Snus Deal. With this deal, combined with their current free shipping offer, you can get 20 cans for $28.70!
That way, you get to taste some snus you might never have tried. Peel off the stupid labels, freeze those puppies, and roll!
I'll have to keep my eye out for next time. I already placed my order and went with the second day air option this way it gets here sooner to start building my inventory. Then once I see what I like I can order more regularly. Good to know in the future I can go with ground shipping
Thank you everyone for the recommendations! What a great site to help another snubie get started.

Approach snus as a different product (not just Swedish dip) and you will be fine.
If the Offroad brands don't work for you you might try the Phantom line on your next order.
If the Grov and Ettan are too mild at first, try some Knox (you will most likely grow out of Knox and grow into Grov/Ettan). Knox had a bold flavor that made it a good transition snus for me at the beginning but as my tastes acclimated Knox became a little much for everyday use
Granit, Pioneer, and Extreme are all brands you will want to try eventually.
Regardless, try a bunch...........buy more of what you like..........but be careful about buying rolls of one brand at first (no matter how much you think you like it).......your taste will change. 5 cans of any one brand is about as much as I would order at a time for the first 6 months or so. Instead, I would focus on variety.

My first order came in today.
Started off with the offroad wintergreen since I came from cope wintergreen.
First impressions:
Has a nice smell to it
Packs ok, noticed that it tends to float a little more but this could be because it's my first time with a brand new can of Los
Has a good mellow flavor isn't over powering at all. Deffinatly weaker in the nicotine department than American dip but that's ok.
Overall I feel it defiantly has potential.
Having a hard time swallowing (haha) again probably b/c of being used to dip.
So far so good tho with the snus Los experience. Excited to open up and try out the other cans as well.

Figured I'd give a little update since I've been able to go through my different varieties.
I've found the hillbilly pinch works best for me since I come from dipping. Every flavor of loose cures any craving for dip I've had so far. My lip likes it much better too, I notice I spit more though. Can't seem to swallow the loose either No problems swallowing with portions though.
By far my most favorite can is Ettan! This is like putting history in your mouth! Wow so good IMO! I wish it had a little bigger cut but wow does the flavor make up for it! the nic delivery is great as well!
Second so far is Grov
Odens original and offroad original have a similar taste to me I just put a big ol hillbilly pinch of the offroad in and BAM! huge nic hit like with dip. Both stay together a little better more like the consistency of dip like I'm used to.
Offroad wintergreen is good as well. Haven't had a taste in a few days of it which is funny coming from cope wintergreen lol
Seems like no matter what's in my mouth I'm always thinking of the Ettan can. Ready to place my second order and will for sure be getting more than one can of Ettan and Grov.
I've got my future brother in law and dad to convert this weekend so I've been saving my portions and a little Los for them

Have you tried Offroad Wintergreen Long Cut loose yet? While true loose snus is ground tobacco, V2 actually cut the tobacco for this snus and the consistency, as well as the flavor, closely resembles Skoal Wintergreen Long Cut. If someone already mentioned this.........sorry, been up for awhile and haven't read thru them all. lol

Look bro, while I was primarily a smoker I used a lot of dip in situations where I couldn't smoke, and it was mostly Kodiak Wintergreen long cut (one of the strongest). Snus is just a different animal, and while at first it may seem like you are not getting the same amount of nicotine, you really are but at a different rate. Dip hits hard at first and gives you that huge buzz which fades in 15-20 min, whereas snus hits slower at a longer rate but can beat your ass into the ground if you keep it in long enough. That's what I like about snus, loads of nic, but spread over a longer time frame. I really recommend starting with some ekstra sterk snus as you come off of dip. I will give you that same quick hit you are used to, lasts longer, and can kick your ass if you leave it in long enough. Once you have made the full transition, you can easily cut back by putting regular strength los into your rotation. Enjoy.Originally posted by Brandon250rDeffinatly weaker in the nicotine department than American dip but that's ok.
