Will cigarette cravings (when nictotine levels are low) decrease soon?!

I have been using snus for over 2 weeks now. Smoked also (only like 1 a day) up to 5 days ago.

The last 5 days I have had 0 cigarettes, snus exclusively!

I am very happy, only problem is that I still do crave a cigarette when my nicotine levels are low in my body. Like when I wake up in the morning, or before bed sometimes.

The morning is not a problem since I just pop a portion in, and the craving does go away after awhile.

When I do have these nicotine desires I do think about smoking, and really hope that will go away.

I was curious for any of you that quit smoking in favor of using snus, do you get to a point where you ONLY desire a snus portion? If so, for you how long did that take?

I know I have only been smoke free for 5 days now, but would like to know if that will go away. I am glad to be able to kick the smoking, just hoping I won't be thinking about cigarettes at certain times of the day for ever now!

You'll probably have those cravings for a couple of weeks though I wouldn't expect them to be strong if you've only had one butt/day. Most people find that there's an addiction to more than nicotine in the cigarettes. Also there's a psychological connection. Smoking is ingrained in our society and most people simply equate nicotine with smoking. This makes it easy for the cig companies. You happen to see smoking everywhere. Also if that was your only source of nicotine then it would be just your brain making the usual desire for getting that drug. Switching your brain over to snus is just a matter of conditioning, IMO. Besides, there are benefits to snus over smoking but I don't need to rant about that...there's plenty of info on here.

The facts are that the snus has generally the same amount of nicotine but it is absorbed and stays in the body differently than that from a cig. It does take most people a while to adjust to this new or different delivery method. I found snus to be fantastic from the beginning though I didn't use it to stop smoking. Many people say that eventually the snus wins (Sage) and I'd surmise that's correct. It would have happened to me 'cos now when I have a cig (rarely) I crave a portion thereafter.

Don't fret. You'll be fine. SnusOn!

Sounds like you need a bump of nasal snuff! I smoked and snused at the same time for months. Just couldn't quite kick it. When I started mixing in the nasal snuff, the cigs. just faded out. Snuff gives you that quick hard hit of nicotine that resembles more of a hit from cigs then snus. Good luck.

Don't worry about it. The cig cravings will go away. One thing that helps is to go ahead and smoke if you are craving it. After a few of those cigs you'll really start to hate them. Well maybe not, everyone's different, but you'll be fine!

The cigarette craving are also psychological so... you need to sort of get it out of your head first to learn to cope with them...

Soon enough you won't even remember you have been a smoker....

Snus helps along the process a LOT.

I still get cravings too. As you and many have said....get some snus in your face and the craving vanishes pretty quick. We're creatures of habit....more
accurately, and in terms of smoking, we're creatures of association. I associate smoking with many things like tinkering around in the garage, fishing, coupla' rum n cokes, morning coffee, etc etc. What has worked for me is to be on the ready with some snus. I believe, that over time these cravings will subside so hang in there........you're so much better off with snus!!

Without snus I never would of lasted as long as I did at first. The patch would of been useless and the gum would of given me hiccups.
Dip would of worked fine but I am sure glad a healthier product came around when it did.

The delivery method is different with snus as in slower. That's the part I had a small struggle with. Out of the blue I would get this strong carving for the quick hit of a cigarette. The feeling passed in short order but it took a while before I didn't have them anymore. Close to a year for me before they where completely gone but it did get less and less as months passed. Now I seldom even think about smoking. Snus has completely replaced the habit of smoking with a new routine.

For me the cravings went away in a couple of months. I gave up cigs about 3 months ago, and after a couple of weeks of a pack of ciggs and a tin of snus I was finally able to make the switch to straight snus. Now the only time I crave a cigg is if I with some friends who are smoking, or even if I just see someone smoking. Even then though I just pop a portion or pinch of los in and the craving is gone. Now granted I only smoked for about a year(and even then it was off and on) so it might take a little more time depending on how long you smoked. Just stick with it man and don't beat yourself up if you have a smoke, I know for myself personally when I had a few smokes after I quite i got really down on myself and thought I would never be able to fully give it up. Something that also helped me was taking my time while baking or folding my portions and kind of making it a ritual, it helped me take my mind off of my cigarette cravings while i was waiting for the nic hit.

That's why you got of easy with snus ... if you only smoked one year then I guess your addiction wasn't that bad ..

I've had times when I smoked 3 packs per day ... (for two months then went on 2 packs) .... my average has been a pack a day since I was 12

I smoked a pack and a half a day for 13 years and made the transition to snus fairly easily.

Last May when I first learned about snus, I got interested and just wanted to try it. I didn't even plan on quitting smoking. I immediately went to only about 4 smokes a day, and eventually just cut those out as well.

I've been smoke-free since June 19, 2010, and haven't looked back. Life is just so much easier with snus.

I don't know. I killed a pack of smokes during New Years and really enjoyed it. The next day I was back to snus though. The nice thing about snus is how you can go right back to it after you slipped and smoked for a bit. Before snus, I would have slipped and just continued to smoke.

I quit smoking with Snus and there are 2 things that I found to help a lot 1. Get something that is ridiculously strong. I smoked Menthol (over 2 packs a day) so in my case I use Thunder Frosted Extra Strong. I promise you 10 minutes with a portion of that and the last thing you will want is more nicotine, you may even be thinking about taking the portion out because you have too much! I only used that when I had a strong craving I don't need that much all day. Rotating some less powerful snus in throughout the day worked for me. 2. Do not smoke. If you have to I found that an Electric cigarette (I got one at a gas station for 10 bucks) satisfies the mental craving to smoke but I only used it for about 5 days when I was at bars and around people smoking I haven't touched it in a while. I noticed when I would break down and have a cigarette for the next 3 days I would get cravings for a cigarette. If you just don't smoke that goes away! Now when I crave something it is Snus. Cigarette smoke smells terrible to me but when I first quit it smelled great. I only quit a little over 2 weeks ago and it has become so much easier I have no cravings now I may have the thought of smoking now but it only lasts a second and it's not that intense physical feeling it is just a short thought. It gets much easier keep it up and you will be so happy that you quit smoking I don't know about you but I have seen first hand what smoking does to people later in life. I got to the point where at least twice a day, while smoking, I would get a bad feeling and ask myself what the hell am I doing?
