Any good or bad experiences with AT&T's U-verse? My wife and I are deciding if we should switch from DirecTv to U-verse and wondering if it's a good service. We currently haven't installed Internet at our place since we moved we've just been using our iPhone. Those bundle deals seem interesting with tv and Internet. The feature about pausing in one room and playing it in another isn't really a bell and whistle we need. The taping of 4 shows at once is a plus. We currenty pay about 86 for directv in two rooms with dvrs without the movie channels and hd tv. Yeah I'm still in the old days being without hd haven't picked up one of those TVs yet. I trust your all of your opinions you've never let me down in the past.
Anybody here have any experience with U-verse?

1/2 my family has it and loves it. I was worried about getting it because I heard that watching HDTV kills your Internet speed, but they have a way around that bow by putting the separate things through a router of sort.
It seems pretty nice if my next place doesn't come with basic sat or cable that I just have to upgrade I'll probably be getting u-verse.

U-Verse has very good promotional offers and a strong referral program. I upgraded from Time Warner basic cable/internet combo because they weren't willing to compete.
The service is fine, the DVR unit works alright, although menus sometimes lag a bit. Lots of room for recording. I've never had DirecTV before so I can't compare. I primarily use U-Verse for internet access, which is just as good as cable in my area.
Probably the only AT&T service I'd ever consider using.

Thanks for the insight guys, the couple people I spoke to at work seem to like it as well. Raptor if they give you a credit or something for the ref I can give them your info if we go that route.

My Comcast internet is superfast, and the tv service is airtight. I'm sure you can get introductory cable bundles just as cheap........ That being said I haven't tried U-verse. I've done a lot of research tho and it doesn't look like the internet speeds are near as fast. I download a lot of content and the speed is good for me. If your use to browsing on phones, I would imagine anything will seem as good or better. So if it's cheeper I say go for it, and you won't know the difference, I say go for it...... Oh did I mention On-demand is pretty cool as well. But like I said if you know not the difference, it won't matter.......

Comcast isn't offered here. Just roadrunner and Time Warner I believe and our friends tell us about the outages. The Internet will be mostly used for casual browsing and the downloading of music here and there. I just pretty much need a good value for my dime and good hd service when I upgrade the tv's. I gotta say I love my son but he sure is expensive lol. Usin up all the toy money but he's worth it.

Supposedly with u-verse everything is always on demand or some bs like that.Originally posted by Bigblue1 View PostMy Comcast internet is superfast, and the tv service is airtight. Thanks for the input, echos what others have told me about those companies. I have a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to cable companies, raising their rates and all and the unreliability.Originally posted by lxskllr View PostTime Warner can go to hell. I'd only use their service if it was the only game in town, and maybe not even then. I haven't heard much good about Roadrunner either. I don't know anything about ATT, so they'd win by default :^D

From what I have heard At&t isn't quite as fast as cable and has less On Demand Content. It is faster than DSL though. Roadrunner is a reseller so you get the same product as cable with less support.
