    Heads up Alabamians (re:online taxes)

I know there's a lot of Bama people here, and this topic was recently discussed regarding back taxes on snus purchases, so here's a little heads up:

I hope I'm not selected. Between my wife and I, we'd probably end up owing a few hundred.

Cowen said the state loses about $100 million a year from unpaid taxes on items. The money Alabama collects as use tax is bound for the state's Education Trust Fund.

"You could build a couple of high schools with that money," Cowen said.
You could also line quite a few pockets with that money!!

This is the scary big brother nanny state part:
while the software is flexible and can work with a multitude of data, Harrison said the only way to pinpoint individual items would be to audit a company for its sales records, or to audit a person for their purchases.

The only accurate way would be to audit the company as I am sure most people (myself included) do not keep a record of everything they buy.

Just do what I do. I NEVER buy products online. That makes dealing with taxes easier ;^)

Oh I'm sure there are some goofballs out there that have a record of everything they ever purchased including date and time and what they were wearing at the time they clicked the submit button.

I don't know how a state could audit a swedish company's records! This scares the hell out of me! I hope Northerener/Buysnus have some sort of system crash and 'accidentally' loses purchase history or at least fights this if an American tax-collector were to attempt to audit their records. It's not about the money for me, it's the invasion of privacy. Call me paranoid, but this is why I never sign up for those store rewards programs..it is nobody's business as to what I spend my own GD money on! I also don't see how they could go back & assess taxes, it is not as if we were purchasing American products across the pond to purposely avoid taxes, we were buying Swedish products that were not available in the U.S!!

It's all about greed, folks. Enjoy paying the taxes.

Overseas operations are not covered by the BS rules that US operations have to abide by, per PACT.

That being said, Northerner's US Warehouse's operations are fully covered by PACT in all areas. Just look at the shipping restrictions the PA warehouse has to follow, whereby overseas distributors couldn't care less.

Penalties for non-compliance for the US operations are very stringent but, for all intents and purposes, non-existent for any other country.

This concerns tobacco taxes ... state sales taxes are still your problem.
