SETI forced to shut down search for alien life

The SETI Institute has been forced to temporarily shut down operations at its telescope array due to federal and state funding cutbacks.

The Allen Telescope Array, composed of dozens of radio dishes 300 miles northeast of San Francisco, was put into a state of hibernation last week. The telescope array is operated by both SETI and the University of California at Berkeley, who have been using the radio dishes to search for signs of extraterrestrial life since 2007.

SETI chief executive Tom Pierson said the institute was working on numerous efforts to insure the telescope array came back online, including work for the United States Air Force.

Operating the telescope array costs about $1.5 million a year, according to The Associated Press.

SETI has other telescope arrays at its disposal, but the Allen Telescope Array is the biggest and, unlike other facilities, is dedicated to the institute's operations.

The shutdown comes after NASA announced that its space telescope Kepler had discovered 1,235 new possible planets, some of which were in the "habitable zone," where liquid water could exist.

"There is a huge irony that a time when we discover so many planets to look at, we don't have the operating funds to listen," SETI Director Jill Tarter told Mercury News.

It looks like a real structure to me. You can also see the trees and forest as it zooms in.

They use satellite mapping to get the photos to use in google mars, and the photos are digital of course. It looks like that "structure" is just multiple missing pixels in that particular photo. But if there's 700ft of missing pixels..what was NASA trying to hide???? lol...

Not an unreasonable question if you believe the moon videos where sections were blurred or erased where there were supposedly bases. Could be the same thing, or just missing pixels.

Nibiru. That little tab says the photo is hidden. I personally believe in Nibiru. I believe it is being kept secret by the "powers that be".
I also believe Mars is inhabited, as well as having an atmosphere that supports life, and it has trees, forrests, lakes, etc. As well as advanced life, and civilization.

Something BIG is going to happen. I don't know when. They now say the Mayan calander is really ending on Oct 28, 2011.

I think we will have about 48 hours. It will be similar to the movie 2012. When you see all the politicians and rich people running for the caves is when it will happen.

Agreed. Imagine having to rebuild the world with boat loads of politicians and rich people, I couldn't handle that.
