Giant plot holes in video games.

I was playing through one of my favourite games, Grandia, tonight and I noticed the most immense plot hole I've ever seen. It's an old PS1 RPG, and the impetus for the quest in the game is meeting a woman called Liete, who tells the main character, Justin, that if he wants to learn all about the ancient civilization from the game's world he has to travel way east to a place called Alent. All pretty standard stuff for an RPG. So, you embark on a journey across an ocean to the new continent, get over the end of the world, and eventually you hit Alent. But looking at the in game map, you really could have just crossed the mountains to the west of your home town and arrived at Alent in a quarter of the time it took you to get there. Kind of a big plot hole, although you wouldn't have met any of the other characters who join your party (except maybe Guido), so it's kind of necessary for the game to work that you go the long way. Anyone notice any other goofy and glaring plot holes in their favourite games?

By that standard yes... Every game ever.

Also lol at them naming a character "guido". Did he have spikey hair and a popped collar? Did he drink a lot of jaegarmeister?

No, he was a little rabbit like guy who ate carrots all the time. But the guys who translated the game had all of his dialogue read like this: "Hey-a Justin! Where is you and-a Feena goin'? Zil Padon, that-a sounds like-a a good time." So, yes, they included the most important Italian stereotype. I guess his hair might've been on the spikey side, but so is everyone's in this game.
