You're right. America's previous immigrants assimilated. They wanted to become "Americans". During the last veteran's day, a house in a nearby city was flying a Mexican flag in their yard and just below it they were flying the American flag upside down. I don't think that is called assimilating. Infuriating!Originally posted by Curtisp View PostPress 1 for English..are you friggin kidding me.? Believe it or not i speak Spanish, Polish, some Russian, and Italian..but try going into Dade or Monroe counties down here, they are putting up street signs in spanish..it's total b.s. My grandparents didn't speak a word of english when they immigrated here 60 years ago. But they learned!! Sorry, didn't mean to jack a thread, i just get worked up sometimes..

I've been planning on moving to Tromsø for the last few years. I'd really like to do grad school up in Norway to improve my limited Norwegian and see if I'm happy living there. If I am, I'm considering moving up to Tromsø and applying for citizenship if I can. I'd hold on to my US passport (last I checked Norway doesn't do dual citizenship, but they don't exactly ring the US embassy to make sure you turned in your US passport like a good boy), because for all the bashing I give the US, I'd like to have the option of hopping back over here if things got too sketchy in Europe. So, who wants to move up to Tromsø with me? Lots of snow, we can have snowball fights.

Haha, I grew up in Homestead, my dad still lives there, it's "different" lol. :POriginally posted by Fury View Post+1
I want to move to America. I live as far south as you can get in Florida before you hit the Florida Keys. This is not America down here, it's more like a 3rd world country, and English is not the native language.
Back to the topic, I would like to move back to where I was born, The Virgin Islands. I might be going there in a few years to work/live.

I think it would be Ireland for me too. I'm not sure where though. I've enjoyed my time in Westport. That's a very nice town, but the south is more appealing. I did attempt to buy a bed and breakfast in Roslaire Harbor a few years ago. Got out bid. All for the better 'cos I landed a nice job here but who knows. Clonmel is nice too.
