I had att elite dsl that was screaming fast. Then I moved HALF A BLOCK up the road and now I can only get basic. It's cheap, but lame.

For me it really depends on what time of day I run a test. Between 3pm and 9pm my speed sucks. All the neighborhood kids are sucking bandwith. 3am is when I can consistently get the advertised "up to" speed I pay my cable company for.

Then there's the difference between LAN and wireless. If I'm plugged in I get stable throughput. If I'm on my wireless I can tell when my wife starts downloading files from work to her laptop.

Then if my iPhone's connected, hers is too, we're both on our laptops, and I have a file coming in on the desktop it can get frustrating.

I will say this. I replaced my G router with an N router and that made a huge difference for my wifi when multiple connections are active.

I'm not sure exactly how much I pay. It's $101.00/mo for Internet and teevee. Verizon FiOS. Admittedly I have the cheapest speed they offer though and apparently it can be fast as hell. I also did this from my laptop in my living room...watching the Sox get spanked again. :-(

just ran another one off my wireless connection on the macbook oh and not sure what the internet runs me I pay around $150 for cable with 4 boxes and 1 dvr and high speed cable internet maybe not the best deal out there but I have to say i am quite happy with comcast service. And the only other game in town is at&t u-verse and I've heard nothing good about their service.

AT&T DSL - Not Fast but around $17.00 per month. I was flying with cable before but they jacked up the price to $46.00 per month so I got rid of it.

Well i'll say this, if I wanted to cut back on expenditures. it would go in this order

                            1. movie channel packages
                            2. cable
                            3. internet

only because I can get everything with the internet
but while it's ok to watch stuff on your computer, I would still miss being able to go into any room in the house, turn on a game or watch a show and just chill. Then again i really should get back to reading more again. IDK- this thread has really got me thinking. But I know without the bundle I'd be paying 75 for my cool internet No Dvr home phone and cable in every room. Maybe I'll just call up comcast and negotiate a lil. maybe save myself $25 a month without losing anything. Hey it worked about a year ago. They don't know i don't want to go to AT&T

I used a UK based speed test taken at peak time (6pm)

                              Results:

Your download speed is 4920Kbps. Your upload speed is 470Kbps

                              £17 a month.
