Obama criticises iPod and Xbox Era

Mr Obama, who often chides journalists and cable news outlets for obsessing on superficial coverage rather than serious issues, told a class of graduating university students that education was the key to progress.
"You're coming of age in a 24/7 media environment that bombards us with all kinds of content and exposes us to all kinds of arguments, some of which don't always rank all that high on the truth meter," Mr Obama said at Hampton University, Virginia.
"With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, - none of which I know how to work - information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation," Obama said.
He bemoaned the fact that "some of the craziest claims can quickly claim traction," in the clamour of certain blogs and talk radio outlets.

Well, in general, I agree with him, but it seems he was planting an agenda against news that questions his political stategy.

So he says he is willfully ignorant of the technology, yet is willing to condemn it. Sounds like an 80 year old man.

For the record I'm a young person and I don't own any of those things, but if new technology is popularized, there's a good reason. You have to learn to seize the opportunity instead of fighting it.

My family watched National news everynight with dinner and we had TIME, NEWSWEEK and the local paper growing up. Altrenative zines and papers were for ultra liberals, anarchists and communist weirdos but I still scanned those when I could. Little did we know how much bias and lies we were consuming.

The internet opened up the door for people to be really informed again. Similar to how books informed the peasants over the kings delivery scripts.

When grandmas and grandpas are throwing them for a complete loop with some real questions from info they read off of the internet, they are starting to get nervous.

SO, DONT EVER LET THEM BURN YOUR INTERNET!
