Ouchie ouchie ouchie! I have a friend who gets that done (this time the friend is real, unlike in the other message) and I don't see how anyone can lay there and get it ripped out. I'll stick to my slim-headed triple blades and baby oil :P
actually I was just teasing PP. I'm not into that look at all.
    But baby oil, huh?

I can only use an electric razor or I break out.

I can't believe you have Lupus too. My mom and I both have it. When were you diagnosed?

Was finally diagnosed 17 years ago when I was 30 after 5 years of "wtf" moments wondering what was going on. There's also fibromyalgia and Sjogrens running around this body also. Guess they got jealous of the lupus getting all the attention and had to rear their ugly little heads too

            Shouldn't that say "It's not a tumor"? :P

Hmmm, did I secretly have a twin that mom never told me about? :P

We're probably the only 2 in here who have even heard of Sjogrens, hehe

yeah.... and what about Antiphos what?...because that's what I said, ha.
What a small world it tis. You can only imagine the look on my face when my mother was dx 1 1/2 later.
Is yours at all under control? I know, such a stupid question...because really it's more of a question of.. Is which part under control.
It seems Lupies are given only so many points in a day, get up 2 points, take a shower 4 points. At this point you are already becoming exhausted lol and trying to figure out just how many points you may have left for that day....you could have more or you could have less. Am I right? Does this sound like you?

I repeat...no way! And yeah it has taken a weird turn...I never run into other people with lupus, so 3 in one spot just seems too strange!

Antiphospholipid, yeah! I don't have that with mine and nobody else in my family has lupus, but I do have one aunt with fibromyalgia and my dad has gout, but that's it.

I've taken high doses of prednisone several times, once for over a year during a really bad flare up of it. Was also on the immunosuppressants for quite a while too, which of course has it's own set of side effects, like looking at someone with a cold and catching it before you could even walk out the door. That really sucked, especially combined with the prednisone.

My biggest problems with it has been the fatigue and just plain feeling like you can't get out of your own way...that's the only way to explain it. I've had instances of blood in my urine (aka kidney involvement which is a 50/50 shot), pneumonia, fluid around the heart and lungs, some central nervous system problems, terrible rashes from any sun exposure, numbness in some parts, screwed up white cell counts, Anti-RO SSA antibodies, weird seizure-type thingys, red cell problems, arthritis, need I go on? Pretty much everything that can happen has happened at one point or another over the past 17 years.

I've heard that when you start hitting menopause that the symptoms can quiet down alot and I'm hoping they're right. I just hate taking meds so I get the speeches every time I go to the doc :P Have a full bottle of Plaquenil sitting here and just don't want to use it right now. Does a number on my stomach and made me feel worse sometimes, so I said "screw it" and stopped taking it. Just hope it doesn't come back and bite me on the ass for not taking the stuff. :?

Be really vigilant about keeping tabs on that. I was in the same situation a couple years ago and am now on the waiting list for a kidney transplant.

I work with someone who is many years out of menopause, who also happens to have lupus. She claims she's been off all meds and symptom/trouble-free for years. My Aunt was the same way.

Sorry to hear that about the kidneys, just plain sucks! That is the one thing I worry about though since it is a 50/50 shot when it comes to them being majorly affected. Good luck with that for sure...

I guess getting old will have it's good points if it means this will calm down. Just kinda hard here to know exactly when that will happen since I had a hysterectomy 10 years ago (took all but the ovaries) so they have to do blood tests to see if I'm getting near that. So far the blood tests say I'm not, but sheesh, I really wonder sometimes!
