So do I.

Funny haha. Not really, what I am saying is that I am amazed they pulled it off and the passengers should have stopped it, especially after they noticed they were flying over new york city about to hit a building. But hijackings at the time usually meant no one got hurt. Still, in other countries I think someone would have got the guys, it pains me when 2 guys can overtake 100 people in a closed area with nothing but box cutters and mace.

Of course i have a problem with body scanners. Let me put it this way: If a cop pulled you and your family over would you:
      1. Let them search your car
2: let them search you and your families bodies
3: Strip search you all just cuz you might have a potential bomb on you or a tank with 20 gallons of combustible material that could be ignited or set ablaze thru the simple act of driving it into any building around.
You my friends have to make that choice yesterday not when it is happening.

honestly, it doesn't bother me..... hell, there aint nothing shameful about the naked form, mostly. Shame about it never did anyone any good.

one thing does get me though: you can post a picture of a body scanned woman, in full acknowledgement that the scanning is tantamount to being naked, and you can't say the f word on this forum?
christ I couldn't even say what I'd like to do to her with the double standard.... just sayin.

The thing is, it's voluntary to go on a plane. You're no more forced to do so than you are compelled to post here. Amtrak, Peter Pan, Greyhound all most likely wouldn't have these machines. If you need to get somewhere in a hurry, you might just need to be willing to let people see a weird birthmark or two.

I don't feel that alot of American sensibilites are right, because they generate some really terrible policies, and also influence legislation. Abstinence education being one example. It's puritanical and lumps every sexual activity into one big category of " hey kids, do this and your life is RUINED" activities instead of being forthright and actually informing teenagers about sex and what they could do.

Also, why the hell can't I buy beer on a sunday? It's because it would have offended the sensibilities of all the good Christians who find it more comfortable to close the liqour store than to let me go on "sinning". But then again, the blue laws are older than the hills.

So American sensibilities sure do help ensure liberty and happiness, I guess. Though I'm absolutely sober and my first girlfriend is permenantly deaf in her right ear thanks to them.

I don't really care what technology they use to scan people - on one condition:

MAKE SURE TO INSTALL ENOUGH OF THE DAMN THINGS THAT YOU CAN GET THE PEOPLE THROUGH THEM QUICKLY!

I fly a LOT and in my"home" airports, I have access to the priority lanes which makes things easier. I also go to Israel quite often, and they have a great system whereby if you are a frequent business traveller, you can apply to their security services to be vetted, if that's comes out clear then you basically get a "fastpass" through security from then on.

So - yes, install whatever type of scanners you like, but be smart enough about overall security that it doesn't cause huge delays and bottlenecks as that's what people hate. I'd also add a requirement for travellers to submit more data online prior to getting to the airport, and for greater security profiling to target the heat on the people who are more likely to cause problems than the frequent (and verified) travellers.

That's true. But - politicians like to be seen doing things to keep the sheep happy.....and installing loads of these things will be good for business. Crappy for travellers, but good for business!

In reality, it doesn't really matter what security gets implemented, a determined terrorist organisation will find a way to get around it. It's a bit like every time a new encryption algorithm is relased....pretty soon a smart hacker cracks it.

While it is voluntary, the reality is that due to business etc it becomes almost mandatory for some groups of people, as in without the planes they cannot complete their duties, also we cannot travel to other countries without planes (cheap enough anyways).

LOLOLOLOL, outstanding. Your right though, abstinence education is retarded, and nothign makes me more angry than having to wait untill 12pm to buy a beer after i've been up all night getting tanked and run out. And no liquor on weekends/sundays? Who the hell invented that!

I think we need to have american sensibilities that are based on the constitution, not on the bible.

All I have to say about this is that the scanners , new tsa procedures evem the oxygen masks on the plane are all an illusion of security to begin with. There is nothing we can do to completly prevemt a plane hijack. You do not need to have weapons to hijack a plane, you only have to be able to fight better than everyone else. How are we gong to scan for a martial arts master? We can't, and he/she could take down it down. You don't need explosives or Box cutters to turn a plane into a middle , only the controls. And when that plane is going down those oxygen masks are not going to protect you. Illusion of security and illusion of control. They don't want you to know that you can die getting on a plane.

"It is now official. A majority of Americans are willing to give up liberty in order to be safer from terrorism. A stunning new McClatchy-Ipsos poll has found that 51 percent of Americans agree with this statement: ”it is necessary to give up some civil liberties in order to make the country safe from terrorism.

Only 36 percent of those polled agreed with this statement: “some of the government’s proposals will go too far in restricting the public’s civil liberties.”

Aside from the fact that I think it's another blatant erosion of our rights, I don't have a problem with it I guess. If the TSA goons want to see my pasty fat naked ass they can for all I care. I also doubt that it will make things all that much secure.
