I've been lurking for about a week, and in that time decided to give snus a shot after reading quite a bit about it here and other places. I am working on quitting smoking with the help of snus; but dont plan on giving up nicotine, just tired of the smoking bit. Dip or chew never appealed to me because of all of side effects and things that go along with it, and after i found snus, it seems like a perfect way to get my nicotine.

I'm yet another person that was introduced to snus through the American Camel version. It was way too sweet for my liking and it did nothing to curb my nicotine/cigarette cravings, but i was intrigued by the idea.

I placed an order on The Northerner at the end of last week for five cans.

•Göteborgs Rapé White Portion
•Göteborgs Rapé No2 White Portion
•General White Portion (have one in my lip as i type this)
•General Portion
•General Onyx

Not really that diverse of an order, but it sounds like to me it will give a fair introduction to real Swedish snus. The order hasn't arrived yet, but i got impatient and found a cigar shop nearby that sells General and i picked up two cans of the white portion.

I enjoy it much more than the American Camel that started me on my journey, it has already cut my cravings for cigarettes. I am even more excited about the order arriving now and placing my next one.

Sorry for the long winded first post, just getting pretty excited about snus and finally being able to quit smoking. If anyone has any recommendations as far as what to order next time around, let me know. I obviously haven't tried 'flavored' snus yet(i.e. mint) but i'm not big on flavored tobacco, might be different with snus though, too early to tell.

Once again, sorry for the length of the post, just an excited newbie lol.

Welcome to SnusOn. Pretty good order you got there. If you like fruity, try Roda Lacket. It was one of the first that I liked, Thunder Frosted is a good minty snus, and if you're liking the General White, try LD White. One of my favorites.

I think you nailed t when you said it was a good introduction to Swedish snus. Absolutely. just make sure, over the next months, that you try to try everything, never assume what you think you will like or not.

And as for length of post...LOL. I could probably fill a thousand page book with everything I have written here. Trust me, yours was not bad at all. :wink:

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'll definitely try and make a point to try everything i can, just somewhat hesitant about the 'fruitiness' of some of the flavors. Gotta give it a shot before i'll know if i'd like it or not though.

deadohsky, also be prepared for your tastes to roam all over the map for a long, long time. My first year, they kept flipping all over the place. Even my second year they still changed significantly. Was not until the last 9 months that they really stabilized.

So, even if you try something today and dislike it, try it again in 6 months. You will be surprised to see how much you may like it then.

+1 & best of luck giving up the smokes. You are definitely on the right path! 30 Year Copenhagen Dip user here and I don't even have the slightest crave for it anymore. In fact the thought of it even repulses me now. No more burning/ridged gums and goodbye to heartburn. Now I can enjoy my coffee again!

Oh did I mention, Coffee + Snus = pure bliss!
