    I Have H1N1!!!

I was diagnosed with H1N1 this morning. My only symptoms have been sore throat, coughing, slight fatigue, and fever. I only had fatigue and a high fever yesterday. The hysteria surrounding H1N1 is hilarious! Its actually mild compared to regular seasonal flu. The media wants you to thinks its similar to the bubonic plague!

Don't believe the hype. The mortality rate is the same as regular seasonal influenza. The only difference is that H1N1 is more contagious than seasonal influenza. My doctor informed me its estimated that 50% of the U.S. population will become infected.

I'm glad I got H1N1 instead of the vaccine! Several top doctors have warned the vaccine has a higher mortality rate than the virus itself.

Here's a scary video about the vaccine:

About 1 month ago, our cashier at the dealership where WeaponX and I
work, died of complications of Swine flu. She was about 24 yrs. old and
healthy as far as I know. I can't help but believe the hype from the media.

its unfortunat how many die from the regular flu, way more than swine flu.
no gov hype for reglar flu though.

                Just not accurate.

                Regular flu kills the old.

Swine flu kills younger kids and teenagers, morality danger maybe extends to early 20's. And pregnant women. They are extremely different. And Swine flu is most dangerous to younger folks because they simply don't ahve any immunities,

Please don't dismiss the dangers. Yes, if you are 44 like me, the effects of Swine flu would be the same as any other flu. But for some folks, very much not

The great flue pandemic of 1918 killed most of it's victims in their 20's. Scientists have figured out what killed them was their immune system was too strong, immune system went crazy. Wasn't the flue that killed folks, was their own immune systems

It isn't going to be the Plague, and the media is definitely having a field day with it, but be careful about consigning it to 'Hype'.

We've had 1,000 deaths so far, and it isn't even really flu season yet. 100 kids are dead, and that is as many kids as the seasonal strains kill in an entire season. And it's just October.

Also, since I noticed that you're in Ohio, keep in mind that most of the health districts here are assuming that any new cases of Influenza A are H1N1. It's possible/probable that you have H1N1, but it is also possible that you have the seasonal strain instead.

What Sage said is pretty much true; this is behaving a lot like the 1918 flu. Fortunately, we have the tools and knowledge today to fight it. Like vaccine. My kids got the nasal mist a few days ago, and aside from feeling just a bit icky the next day, all is well.

At age 37, I'm not so worried about it for me, but with the current outlook, it wasn't a pair of dice I cared to roll for my kids. If you have kids and the vaccine is available, please do consider getting it.

Edit: Incidentally, yeah...scary video alright. "Back To You In Moscow?". Ohhhhh-kay.

Thimerosal has been used in vaccines since about 1930. If you were born since then, most likely all of the vaccinations you got as a kid(and your parents, and maybe even your grandparents)contained Thimerosol. It has NOT been proven to cause Autism, as the video claims. In fact, literally hundreds of studies have been done in many countries, and none of them have concluded that it causes any adverse effects in the amount found in a vaccine.

Much has been made of the mercury content in Thimerosal, but in fact, you will consume more mercury by eating a tuna sandwich than from receiving a vaccine containing Thimerosal.

And here is the real kicker: The nasal mist, which is recommended for anyone over the age of 3 who has a healthy immune system, contains none of it....

It's official. I've got H1N1 too. I feel like ass. I haven't been to work in 3 days, and tomorrow will make 4. Oh well, at least I got it over with.

I'm personally not as worried about Thimerosal as I am the other heavy metals present in most vaccines. The mist does seem to be the best of the bunch as far as toxic materials go, but I'd also say there hasn't been much time to properly test for an H1N1 vaccine that is safe and effective, and less time to work out contraindications.

Shit like this makes me leery. Drug companies are going nuts over this new possible flu cash cow, and will put anything out if they think people will buy it due to confusion or panic regarding H1N1. I trust the drug companies less than sgreger trusts the federal government.

Thing is, this isn't some completely new disease. In general, a flu virus is a flu virus. The only difference with H1N1 is that it's an almost completely new strain that a large segment of the population has little to no immunity to. So it's not the sort of thing where they need to take lots of time creating a completely new vaccine and then have extensive trials of it. All they need to do, basically, is use existing vaccine formulation, and use inactivated or attenuated H1N1 instead of another strain. And then test it to make sure it works.

And when it comes to heavy metals? Honestly, we're talking about fractions of micrograms here. In all likelihood, you get more heavy metals in your system just from being out in the environment than you will from a one-time vaccine.

I don't trust them either, in general, but this isn't the kind of thing that can really become a long-term cash cow. The HPV vaccine? Yeah, sure. But with flu, the shots are being given free of charge(so the only payer in this case is the government), and it's a flu shot. People are either going to get the vaccine and be mostly immune. Or, they're going to get the virus and be mostly immune. After the initial pandemic passes, it won't be any more profitable than the seasonal vaccine.

I agree there's a lot of confusion, and even a little bit of panic. But it's not entirely unfounded.

I have been surrounded by H1N1 and have not been infected. Had no flu since I was 13. I take Airborne www.airborneeffervescenthealthformula.com
and a vitamin D-3 supplement. Do not even get the sniffles. Every case I have seen has been similar or less that the standard seasonal flu. NO matter what the flu can kill so just take care of yourself. Never had a flu shot in my life.

Well, the great swine flu scare of 1976, Never materialized and more people were severely injured or died from the vaccine than from the flu.
