I am 44 and overwhelmingly buy more flavored than not, but it appears to me the available choices of flavored far outstrips the choices of tobacco only flavored snus.

My top 5 faves, (I prefer white mini-portions), are General, Goat Rape, Mocca Pomegranate, Catch Licorice and Tres Ankare, but not necessarily in that order. Were there more tobacco only flavors available, that list could well be quite different.

As a matter of fact, when the Tre Ankare minis start draining, the throat hit is what reminds me most of smoking a cigarette. Were there more tobacco only mini white portions available, I assure you I would be buying them.

You bring up a point that really pisses me off about the latest hysteria about snus and kids.

Kids don't use tobacco for the nicotine, the ONLY reason is to look cool. And snus is so discreet, especially portions, where the hell is the cool factor?

          Believe it or not, yes.

The way that I understand it, in Sweden, you are either pro-Europe or you are pro-Sweden. Most of the pro-Europe crowd is the "Young Turk" set that is usually schooled abroad, in their late teens/early twenties, and are decidedly anti-snus and anti-tobacco. They are ashamed of their countries dependence and defiance when it comes to snus consumption, and think that it makes their country look backwoods, backwards, ignorant and outdated. They wish to ban snus and tobacco, and are really quick to point fingers and call their fellow countrymen "racist" or "hillbilly" if they cling to tradition or oppose EU membership.

One of the best ways to promote Swedish independence is through the use of Snus. My kinfolk that live there would be considered "hicks" if they were to move here, by our standards. Like a lot of southerners here in the US that start taking dip as teens, there are a lot of traditionalist Swedes that start using snus in order to give the finger (symbolically) to the "Nymodig Sverige" that wants them to act like good little refined Europeans. But most teenagers that are trying to look cool smoke cigarettes, just like they do in this country and just like they do all over the world. Snus is what they use when they get a little older and realize that smoking is bad for them.

          :P

There is nothing wrong with being a backwards hillbilly type. Better than a metrosexual starbucks type anyday.

                I re-tried the Goat Rape yesterday...and, well, ok, I liked! 8)

See?? You are learning the ways of snus. Most important lesson for newer folks, don't trust your initial assumptions about any snus, both good and bad.
