on the other hand, if it's about strip clubs and beer
I'll pass
hoovie why can't it be about both? everyone could be free to do as they please in the evenings. oh and by the way i love good beer with my snus. i can do without the strip clubs. really i can't stand them anymore. i guess it is a sign of getting older.
And I didn't mean to sound like a downer or anything, I had just noticed several posts about hookers/strippers/getting shitty/etc in the various threads (not just you bearcat). If that is someones thing... awesome for them, it used to be mine... just not anymore.
On a serious note, I have experience with event planning. Hell, I'm currently setting up a 5/10k run for charity. I'd be happy to try and help a bit setting this thing up, unfortunately I'm swamped at the moment.
The way I see it, this can go one of two ways... either you go for a real "convention", get the manufacturers involved, and it be a professional event. Or, it can be a community event... folks can gather and shoot the shit about los vs portions, which sterk they like more, etc.
Manufacturer involvment will probably mean more attendance, but MUCH more planning and overhead. Community event can be whatever you make of it... 5 guys crashing on a couch or more. It depends how dedicated the people on this site are to making this happen.
i think it would be awesome if we could get the manufacturers involved. mainly because they usely have free stuff, but getting to meet them would be kind of cool also.
I think for the first run that manufacturer involvement should be minimal. Something like offering up free samples as prizes, or a free icetool.
It's best to show them that the community is serious by first doing it on our own dime. Then you can send them pictures and say "Hey, look at this, how are you going to support us next year?"

THIS would be the way to do it. There's no way that the bigger manufacturers are going to show up, spend money, and send PR reps to a different country to watch 20 dudes get drunk in a hotel conference room and challenge each other to a los eating contest.
It would probably be a better idea to try to find an all out tobacco convention, set up a Snus Community booth and try to convert mass amounts of tobacco users.
Amid inspirational talk, chanted mantras and shouts of victory at a late-night firewalking event attended by thousands Thursday came agonized shrieks...
