Having reread the first couple pages of this thread, I noticed that they were entirely dominated by the pro-gun ownership crowd.

My question for you is: why did you not complain about THOSE blatantly political statements? Or does a thread only become political when someone disagrees with your own political opinions? Is that not hypocritical??

I must point out, however, that I am in no way, shape, or form a Stalinist. I reject Stalinism in all its manifestations. I believe that Stalin introduced unprecedented degrees of authoritarianism into benign Marxist-Leninist philosophy, which eventually resulted in the collapse of my beloved motherland. As far as I am concerned, Stalin should have been taken out and shot.

I reiterate: as an Enemy of the People, Stalin deserved to die by firing squad.

However, many of the alleged "atrocities" attributed to him were not, in fact, his fault. Simply put, he did not cause 20,000,000 Soviets to be killed. Call me an idealist, but I love both justice AND truth.

First: I never claimed to have grown up in Russia. I grew up in the Soviet Union. Russia is but 1 of the 15 then-Soviet republics.

Second: I really do not care what you arbitrarily choose to believe my statements. Whether or not you believe me does not affect me in any way. Neither my ethnicity nor my professional life depend on your willingness to accept their validity.

I am also curious if you grew up in the Soviet Union as to when you came to America. Did you come over during detente or after Gorbachev declared democracy? It would be interesting to know also why if our little democracy is so unappealing you chose to come to this country?
