    New Dipper

Thanks to a fellow member of this forum, I got a can of Cope Snuff, that I thought I should try one day for two years now.

Well, I have the first prilla of Cope Snuff under my upper(!) lip at the moment and it gives a nice punch of nicotine and I think it is a fine product overall, with a nice leather-taste (I wonder how they make that - maybe it's a result of the fermentation).

    Some questions:

Baking a 'prilla' of Cope Snuff was the 'hardest thing', I've ever done. Thanks to my experiences with snus, I was able to handle it with just a little spitting - yeah, 90% of the prilla really made it to the upper lip, but I wonder if this stuff is rather meant to just put a pinch in the bottom lip - and if the upper lip or 'prilla-thing' is just a bad idea?

So, I have spit three times, now I swallow the saliva, just like with snus or European chewing tobacco. Is that a bad idea?

    Initial judgement:

The stuff is high-class. Good nicotine-punch (not stronger than with Skruf Stark, rather a little weaker, but really good). It has a really fine taste. It is noticeable in the stomach, but not that much and not stronger than Oliver Twist, Piccanell or Kruse. I could use it as a special treat like I'm using chewing-tobacco-bits or nasal snuff, but as long as I'm able to get snus, I think snus will stay my main vice. If I was living in the USA and had a delayed snus-shipment, I would be buying this stuff at least to bypass the delay, no doubt.

Answers to my questions are appreciated. I will post my further experiences too.

    Cheers!

Granted you may like the taste, but it's probably a good idea to not swallow that juice.

Well, I've used the prilla for 2 hours, just like snus. Now I'm back to my usual evening-prilla of Ettan, which feels a little more comfortable, to be honest.

Ettan has hints of the leather-taste of Cope. The taste of Ettan as a whole is more subtle and certainly more enjoyable in the long term. The aftertaste of Cope also is slighty chemical or medicinal. I'm not sure if that's a natural taste of the fermented tobacco or if it is some ingredient.

So, I spat a fourth time with Cope Snuff, just because I felt like, besides of that I swallowed the juices, with no ill effect until now, but it is really noticeable in the stomach, unlike snus.

Once it's under the lip, Cope Snuff is very easy to handle. The texture is like Offroad, only not as moist. I'll add a drop of water before I bake the next prilla. Maybe that works better.

The nicotine kept going for 2 hours. Overall the experience was very much like with snus - the texture, the nicotine, the slight burn. U.S.-snuff is a different animal, but not that much.

I'll use the can over the next two weeks (one prilla per day) and then decide, if I want to dig deeper into the world of dip. At the moment, I think that snus really is the better choice, especially now, that the nicotine from my Ettan-prilla fully kicks in. It's certainly a myth that dip has a stronger initial kick.

      Cheers!

Wow, To be 100% honest chainsnuser I have never tried to bake cope or upper lip it. I still use a can or two a week. The thought had never crossed my mind even after snusing for the last six months or so.

I buy either cope snuff or long cut. I pinch a very large amount, 1/4 to 1/3 of the can. I bottom lip it in the shower every morning. I get a nice starter for my nicotine and don't worry about spitting in the drain. Then the rest of my day is snus, portions at work and loose at home.

I'm 100% sure that 99% of people who use Copenhagen snuff bottom lip it. However the fact that you were able to upper deck it proves that there is no wrong way. The nic kick most people get is from the dramatically larger pinch that is taken in the bottom lip.

I enjoy the flavor, but due to not so fond memories of puking my innards out as a child I do not swallow juice from American dip.

I'm digging a new Hickory flavor Copenhagen introduced. If you'd like to try it PM me. They have a Hickory and a Whiskey long-cut.

1/4 to 1/3 can? man your gonna die.

with my high blood pressure I would kick the bucket if I did that much.

Copenhagen Snuff is my go to dip along with Redman Natural.

Its just made to be commandoed in the bottom lip and then spit the juice out.

You do not have to however, i have friends who dip cope and grizzly and do not spit.

But i just grab a pinch straight from the can, put it in bottom lip and keep adding pinches until im satisfied.

            Good stuff.

              Thanks for the answers.

So, i'll try the bottom-lip-method tomorrow. Seems like I would be missing something, if not. And now I guess it's really better to spit.

              Cheers!

                pp,

I have it in for maybe 15 minutes in the shower. I cleanup then shave and spit my dip out before brushing.

Before snus if I did some cope during the day with a spit cup in hand or outside around people I would not take so much. I would also keep it in for 30 minutes or longer. I just love having a massive dip in the morning to wake me up.

I have a major nic addiction.

LOL, that's what I was thinking....1/4 to 1/3 of a can is a shitload!

If it takes that much to wake you up in the morning, you must be borderline comatose...

                    LOL,

I remember seeing someone come out of a spectrum store with some grizzly and open it up and put almost half a can in his whole bottom lip.

                    It was rediculous.

I've been thinking since posting last that I'm probably wasting by using so much for only such a short time. It wraps around my bottom jaw from one side to the other. Oh well. It's more like 1/4 a can or under. One can lasts me Mon-Fri normally. I buy two a week and keep one around for outside use.

I'm just not a morning person. I tried the Elixir power snus and that aint for me.

Sometimes in the morning I have 2 or 3 pseudoephedrines washed down with a cup of coffee. Then I go shower with a dip and get dressed. Then on my way out the door I take a caffeine pill, fill up my coffee mug and go.

Usually by lunch time I'm ready for another caffeine pill. I keep a sterk portion in most of the day too.

                      ?Normal?

Baker - that sure is a lot.

I have a suggestion: take a cold shower. (And not for those other reasons!)

Seriously - just try it once, one time, you will be a believer. It'll turn you into a morning person. Do a google search on it and you will see what I am talking about.

                          cnainsnusser states:

A little weaker eh, was that the Longcut or the Original snuff you tried? I found Cope to be a bit stronger than Skruf but I also use enormous amounts when I dip too. I think the Longcut's a weaker version myself and didn't care for the cut. I've also upperdecked Cope, but couldn't quite get the proper amount comfortably in there.

I'd be hesitant to continue 'upperdecking', the snuff at least. I don't know any long term users with that little 'web thingy' left in their lower lip, myself included! The only reason I rarely use Cope anymore is the destruction it's caused on my lips and gums, thankfully snus is much milder on the mouth.

Hey bakerbarber, I haven't seen the Hickory stuff around yet, unless it's the "Black" one in pouches? I'm trying to forget all about Cope and pay it little mind nowadays. Does that come in a Snuff version too? I'll be looking for that if it does, just to sample of course..... I'm quite happy with my snus. "Nothing satisfies like Cope", a bold but true statement.

The Cope Hickory is a long cut special version.

Its part of the " Cope " flavors, all of which are long cut.

The flavor is good but its sooo mellow it seems to only last maybe 5-10 mins.

If they could get that flavor in fine cut and make the damn flavor last longer, it would be my favorite copenhagen product.

So, I've used the second prilla (didn't want to risk the bottom-lip-method yet). It worked quite well again, though the baking is really hard with Cope Snuff. I used it for a little more than two hours again and did only spit three times. The juices are noticeable not only in the stomach but also in the throat, but it's nowhere near to being frightening or problematic.

Well, yesterday my prilla was on the smaller side of my usual prilla-size, today it was on the bigger side. It has about the same strength (nicotine-wise) as Ettan IMHO, it's definitely weaker than Skruf Stark. I'm using very much nicotine per day, yet I'm quite sensitive to nicotine. I guess I could go with half the amount I use and still wouldn't get any cravings. So, from my experience, Cope Snuff has some kind of nicotine-delivery that is very similar to chewing tobacco, faster than with snus and also very satisfying, but not stronger.

Using 1/4 of a can at once could make it stonger, no doubt, but gram for gram, I think snus is stronger.
After just two prillas and no bottom-lip-experience, I wouldn't make a final judgement though, it's just a newbie's experience - take it for what it's worth.

If one thing is for sure, than that Cope Snuff is addictive. It already gets me excited before I use it. It is definitely on par with Ettan Lös or Skruf Stark Lös (insert your own favorite snus-brand to know what I want to say). The flavor is extremely good. I'd appreciate it if there was a snus-brand like "Offroad Copenhagen" instead of all the "Offroad-Limited-Minty-Peach etc." nonsense.

                              Cheers!
