Also how the hell does the time work. A game lasts 90 minutes but not really if someone decides it should go longer.....?
You have to remember that association football (it should really be called assoccer! - as that's where the name comes from) was invented in England when gentlemanly conduct was assumed to be universal. It's not our fault that all these cheating foreigners don't really understand the principle upon which the game was founded!Squeezyjohn

If they did....this could drastically change world history forever..............maybe Cornwallis didn't actually surrender at Yorktown.......maybe he was just flopping.....and the Latino refs.....who had been paid off by the French.....just turned a blind eye and let time expire..........damn this is all so complicatedWhen it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Don't worry 'dog ... we didn't invent rolling around in agony due to tripping over a blade of grass .. but I'm ashamed that the modern players from every country do this - even England.
In the good old days players used to tackle each other properly and get properly hurt sometimes. And there was no pretending - have a look at how these goalkeepers used to be treated!

I love the old commentator "and it's a fair charge - but unfortunately their heads have collided" ... If that happened today the forward would be sent off and banned.Squeezyjohn

Hello all, long time no see
Bad luck USA, you guys did really well.
As an English/Welsh hybrid who prefers rugby, I'm not overly arsed about England failing horribly, but I am very much rooting for the Dutch for the remainder of the tournament.
They deserve to do well, as they've always been a team that promises so much but often fall short (like England in the good-ish old days!). If I owned any orange clothing, I'd be wearing it tonight, but I don't, so I'm not :P
I'd love a Netherlands vs Brazil final, and the Netherlands taking it in extra time. Won't happen, but I can but hope.

Bloody hell ... that was a game and a half! Germany could have scored 20 if they'd have gone for the jugular. Those Brazil players were a disgrace to their country ... it was not a case of Germany being brilliant ... Brazil were hopeless.Squeezyjohn
