    Poll: Should Canada buy Detroit?

TORONTO – Detroit made history Thursday afternoon becoming the largest city in U.S. history to file for bankruptcy. If the bankruptcy filing is approved, the city’s assets may be liquidated in a massive auction to repay the city’s estimated $14-20 billion debt. But rather than seeing the former hub of North America’s automotive industry picked clean by creditors, Global News puts forth another suggestion:
What if Canada just buys Detroit, warts and all?

          My thoughts exactly.

The City of Seattle will not be annexing Detroit any time soon.

Why not, Canada gets everything we don't want, socialized medicine, hippies, etc. Detroit seems like a perfect fit in that pattern, hehehehehe.....

Oh hell no. It's bad enough we're paying for a new bridge to Detroit.

                  Detroit?
Maybe they could build a wall around it and just drop prisoners in there like the movie Escape from New York. Create some jobs

Property taxes were never intended to be anything other then maintaining the neighborhood. Glad the working people of Detroit woke up to that fact when those funds were going elsewhere.

There will be a bailout plan and then this will be a even bigger problem 5 years from now.

Windsor, please take it. Detroit is a shit hole *cough*, I mean fantastic place! Last time I drove up through the Windsor tunnel, I had to speed through certain areas of Detroit because they were so "shady". Bums pissing on the street, and crackheads living in the abandoned remnants of our once powerful auto industry.

Of course! Last year when I was there I only had to worry about being shot, raped, and robbed (in that order). It was heaps worse before that.

Welp, that's what happens when unregulated big business decides they're going to move to areas where they can pay their workers less than half of what they did there.
