    Snus and U.S airports

I'm planning on staying in Usa for a couple of months (maybe a whole year), and therefore i want to take with me some snus. So i was just wondering if it's legal to take with me, say 10 cans (250g) through the airport? I'm also under 18 ( i become 18 a month after i arrive). By the way, am i going to have to pay taxes when i take it with me through the airport for personal use?

Oh, and are there any snus brands in america thats similar to swedish snus?

Are you talking about customs? I can't answer that, but I would be interested in the answer. I can say that I've recently flown with nearly 10 cans of snus domestically (in checked-in luggage) and had no trouble. Even brought some in carry-on and snused it up on the plane... I didn't carry the tin with me as I passed through security, but instead kept it in my carry-on bag until I got through the primary checkpoints.

To my knowledge there are no domestic snus brands that are close to swedish snus... I think that's the primary reason why many (most/all?) of us order from Northerner/buysnus. I sure do hope the American manufacturers will step it up and start offering comparable products.

I'm not sure where to look, but here's a good place to start:

        Thanks.

        I found this: http://help.cbp.gov/cgi-bin/customs....i=&p_topview=1

How much snus do you think i can take with me, and do you think it will be any problem that i'm under 18?

        I'm travelling from Sweden.

I was wondering about the age thing - I'm not sure if all states have an 18 or older age limit.

If you know where you're going to stay, why not just ship some snus there and it'll be waiting for you.

Don't worry about it. Don't even declare it, it's not a really big deal. They won't be checking, US customs is pretty lax when it comes to that. If you don't give them any reason to check you out, you'll pass through without a problem. When I came home to the States after a trip to Japan a year ago, I brought back with me something like 5 cartons of duty free cigarettes in my carry on luggage  and they were none the wiser.

Thanks, if they're really that relaxed about i think i take the chance.
Got my question answered by the CBP though, and they said that US laws applied and i had to be over 18, but if the US customs is okay with it, i hope there will be no problem. What is the worst that can happen? Can i be fined or even sent back?

I talked to someone who just arrived in the Us, and the US customs had opened their baggage and checked everything, thats why i'm a bit nervous.

Customs was on Dateline NBC this week.

Some women tried to bring in like 40 or 50 cartons of cigarettes from Laos.
                  "for personal use" lmfao

They snapped them in half and threw them out. The cigs.

Said only one carton per person. Got caught with x-ray of luggage.

I wouldn't worry about ten cans of snus.

Just don't act funny or draw attention. I'd say put them in your carry on.
