Why The NRA Was Founded And By Who...
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......
I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Ideologically driven press conference, but since I already support the 2nd amendment; I can look past the rhetoric.
I enjoyed hearing their perspectives on gun rights though. Thanks for sharing that!Words of Wisdom

Niger Innis has got be Roy Innis son. Roy is awesome. I dont know why that other fella was trying to imply that 19th century Republicans were pro-black or something. Lincoln thought Negroes were subhuman and wanted to deport them all. The old Whigs turned into the Republicans, who wanted a federal government that ruled over the states and taxed everyone to fund outrageous "internal improvements". Just like now, the money was squandered on political cronies and picking winners who then lost.
From a purely historical perspective, Republicans have been reaming individual and states rights for longer.
The last 70 years or so, Democrats have been just as awful. They lost their soul somewhere.
Give me a Thomas Jefferson over a Lincoln and an Andy Jackson over a GWB any day. Those two Republican assholws are just as awful as LBJ, FDR, and O-bomb-ya.

From http://www.nrahq.org/history.asp
"Dismayed by the lack of marksmanship shown by their troops, Union veterans Col. William C. Church and Gen. George Wingate formed the National Rifle Association in 1871. The primary goal of the association would be to "promote and encourage rifle shooting on a scientific basis," according to a magazine editorial written by Church. "
That is also on the NRA main site under History>About. Same text. The only Church I see in there is the Colonel's name.
