Anyone else Getting Screwed by the weather?

Just wondering who else is getting screwed by the weather. I went to work yesterday found out we were in a winter storm warning and got put on 24 hour coverage. After my 12 hour shift it was the middle of the storm and had to get a hotel room without a change of clothes because the highway was going to close, went to bed woke up did another 12 hour shift and started to drive home. About a hour and fifteen minutes into my drive home a transport hit the ditch adding an extra 30 minutes.

Anyone else have recent pain in the butt story they want to share?

Other than shutting my water off every night, not much. It has been in the 20's at night. I know that might seem like a summer high in Maine but in California its downright cold.

Its 36 degrees here when it should be 0 or -10. Instead of snow we have impenatrable fog hued ice all over everything. Black ice on yhe road. Thin ice on the lakes. I hate winters like this. I prefer 0 to +5.

I heard it was hitting -8C in cali today. Made me laugh, 2 days ago we were +6 here which is record breaking

Last week was pretty brutal before things warmed up here. I live in the middle of nowhere with about 35km of farmer's fields between my home and work. All the fields are obviously empty and the snow and winds were creating drifts across the roads. Normally when it gets like that I work from home but things were happening that required me to be on site. It turned a 30 minute commute into 1 hour a few times. I miss my 4X4!

I don't know about all that. I prefer colder weather but winter itself sucks. I have to commute an hour over icy mountainess roads to get to work. I have to worry about the water pipes in my detached garage bursting. When I leave and come home from work it is dark. Camping would not be fine right now. I am really starting to miss summer.

It's really weird in Europe, the other morning we had -16 Celcius the next morning +2 Celcius.... nobody ever seen such fluctuations ... which surely have a damn bad impact on people's health.

I am getting severely shat on when the cold weather moves in as the house i am in has an antiquated heating system.

I'm getting sick from the fluctuations in cold here.. It goes from +7 to -5 from day to day :/

But at least we're not in Australia where the houses catch fire from the heat (55 degrees celcius down there - They had to add new marks to the heat scale)

Same here, its snowing now, which isn't uncommon here at this time of year and we can expect snow as late as April given the altitude we are at, makes the commute to work a bitch when I have a snow covered car and everyone else is like wtf?? lol In our house our only source of heating is the wood burning stove, we have no central heating system or mains gas, the price of living in a grade II listed building and an area of outstanding natural beauty and scientific interest

Sounds awesome. What does grade II signify?

I have a pellet stove and love it. Prior to the pellet stove, we had an electric heat pump and a woodstove. The heat pump is very expensive to run and the woodstove is a pain to maintain. With a pellet stove, I heat my home for a few dollars a day. It does need to be cleaned but I just use a shop vacuum on it from time to time.
