Hello, my name is Angelina- I'm new here. I've been lurking for a week or so now almost daily, and placed my first order through BuySnus on Wednesday. I am a smoker who is getting more and more limited in what I'm allowed to do by the government.

My order includes the Offroad '08 Limited collection (what can I say? I was drawn by the flavor names), and two each of the CatchDry mini whites. I tried the Camel Pseudosnus and thought it was horrific, and looking forward to trying the real deal.

Unfortunately, I am not sure you are gonna get close to the real deal with your order. The Offroad is really disliked by most, has a flavor that is unlike any other snus. The catch can be hit or miss, Have never tried the mini whites but have never really liked any Catch I have tried.

One suggestion for your next order, take a look at the top 5 thread. Although you will see the great disparity of snus tastes, you will also see a lot of snus come up frequently on many people's lists. At least if you don't like your first order, definitely don't give up.

Most of us here quit smoking with snus. I wasn't planning on it, got the snus to help me while I worked. Just over time, came to love the snus far more than the cigarettes.

Thank you for the welcome. I have no expectation for the Offroad... the flavors just sounded too cool to pass up (I like anything honey, and someone here said the orange reminded them of Starburst candy... I'm a sucker for candy).

There were so many more I wanted to try, but I very passionately dislike the taste of tobacco, so I was trying to steer towards more overpowering flavors, ie. the menthol and licorice offered by Catch.

Any suggestions for other (perhaps better in quality) non-tobacco-esque snus?

I expect my package Monday. How is it that they ship without refrigeration without an issue?

Mocca makes a good mini flavored snus, and I like LD Black licorice as well. You might want to give General Onyx a try. The tobacco's there, but it has a strong lemon flavor with a bit of licorice in the back. You might also like Probe. The tobacco flavor's there, but it's more abstract than a pure tobacco taste. Kind of the way walnuts and prunes taste like tobacco if you know what I mean.

Edit:
Snus doesn't /have/ to be refrigerated, but it keeps better if it is, and I prefer cold snus. It'll be fine in shipping though.

RocketByeBaby, I do understand. But I'm not sure what you mean when you say you passionately dislike the taste of tobacco. In what other context have you had tobacco that you didn't like?

Snus is a muted flavor experience, certainly very unlike American dip. Since you are quitting smoking and nicotine replacement is going to be an issue for you, I would suggest at least trying one can of one of the stronger snus. Nick & Johnny is a big favorite around here. I suspect that if you try it, you might find that the taste of "Swedish tobacco" isn't that bad. And it will certainly broaden your horizons. And if you hate it, you can use the Snus exchange thread to get rid of it.

Otherwise, I would echo everything lxskllr said.

And who knows, you may love the Offroad. I mean I kinda like Elyxr and Xobeloot loves Phantom Blue, so stranger things have happened.

If you hate the taste of tobacco, I believe that you will love the Offroad stuff. They are very much candy-snus. Not like Camel Snus candy, but candy in comparison to the other flavored brands.

V2 is my favorite brand by far. I tend to only use the Loose which does have significantly more tobacco taste than the portions, but nothing like an Ettan or Grov.

People say that there is a funky taste that cones through after having a portion of Offroad in for a while, but I have never found it unpleasant.

Right now, mt Snus stock is comprised of about 90% Offroad and Phantom (highly disliked by fellow snusers) and 10% board favorites (grov and general).

From what you have said, I think you will enjoy them. You will find them a bit salty at first, but soon after you will stop noticing the salt and just enjoy the flavor.

I'm Aaron. Introduced to snus through online research, I discovered Mr. Unloadingzone's blog. He's a very cool guy and has lots of good info compiled for snussers, as many of you probably know him. I'm currently alternating between General Portion, General Sterk and some Offroad flavor varieties.
