Let me break down what you just said and inject a little realism into it.

1. Ah, the ole' redneck statement. Exactly how to do know I'm a redneck? Vs someone who intellectually understands and upholds our forefather's constitution and believes that it is a human right to protect your brothers in need?

It is odd though to see such an educated neuroscientist be the one to do this. I am eager to find out what his motivation was, and why he chose the whole batman thing as the venue. Well first of all we have to admit to the fact that this guy started off with a ****ing gas grenade and had a mask on and everything, so everyone in that theatre was probably ****ed anyways, regardless. The whole thing is that, often times in these scenarios, after the initial shootings are over, the person flees and is often time able to (until the cops find him). The idea is to shoot him as soon as is reasonably possible so as to prevent further mayhem on his behalf. Stopping the initial event of him shooting everyone up though would in this scenario be unrealistic because he had gas and came very prepared to do a quick hit and run. Even the military has trouble reacting in situations like that, but the idea is that he won't get away with it for long if someone is armed. If no one is armed, than he gets to shoot fish in a barrel until the cops arrive.
