What the Supreme Court's Ruling Means for Consumers: HealthCare

1) It is a citizen obligation gifted from Government which will be met with with penalties if not followed through. Pretty demanding if you ask me and very demanding on many people who have a problem even paying a utility bill. I do not have faith in lower and middle class people to be this pro-active about their health insurance. This will not effect the current ER way of doing things for many people, (especially non-citizens). This will also create a heirarchy of care many will find themselves enslaved in.
2) I dont know what congress will do but I guarantee they will not be in the BRONZE plan
3) Remains to be seen but some polls are showing that close to 65% of doctors are voicing negativity and would move into specialized care or other areas of the medical field. If there was any input from them on this bill I would like see it.

5) Written by the insurance companies who have had to in the past cut every corner just to make a little profit. I agree that this is going to evolve one way or the other.
6)One thing that was talked about even when Hillary was attempting this is to bring the cost of health care down. Many skeptics are stating this will at least bring premiums up 30% at start-up for middle class families. So, if you already feel like you are paying too much then you will continue to feel like that. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THEY ARE GOING TO TAX AND PAY FOR THIS ALL.

Sure there are many GOOD things written in the bill but this is not the French universal program which I would feel better about if our country is obviously heading that way. I think they just flat out pull it out of your salary and you get a card and everyone gets the same care unless you pay more for specialized services which the rich will always do. It works good in France but not so great in a country like Latvia. France's bills are also adding up.

Not sure what the percentage is for small business but it seems almost guaranteed that they will drop coverage or stay at that 49 mark which could possibly also add to a job stall and full-time employment.

Small businesses BENEFIT from this, they get to provide healthcare for only 8% instead fo what they are currently paying. And no businessman is going to stay undeer 50 employees just due to healthcare, if you need 60 employees to cover demand, than you will have 60 employees. Very few are going to purposely stay under the 50. People hire based on how many employees they need to run a business, if you can't run with <50 than you have to hire >50, it's just how it goes.

If you can't afford it you will recieve a subsidy, and there will be cheaper premiums due to increased competition due to the exchanges. If you refuse to pay your taxes, yes, they will come after you just like for any other tax.

2). Congress is not exempt from it. In fact, now the federal government can only provide health coverage to members of the House of Representatives and the Senate through the new health insurance exchanges that will be created. So they are not exempt in any way, in fact it is mandatory for them.

3) Like with any market, the doctors will come. If there is sudden demand for widgets, more widget makers and widget assemblers will join the workforce, this is a self-correcting problem. (And honestly we should be doing what many others do which is use more PA's and Nurse Practitioners for low-level care).

4)Obama may be a dumbo, but him smoking does not matter at all in this scenario.

5) No, the committee chairman doesn't understand all several thousand pages. no one person will. Just like with tax law or any other sort of law, it is often too complex for any one person to know everything about it, that's not how things work. If that was a basis to not pass something, than we would not have many of our existing laws or programs.

6) It is a lie that we are "being taxed for 4 years before any benefits take effects", the effects have already began, with tens of millions of students and young people now insured and millions of seniors realizing billions in savings on drug costs already. Once the full law kicks into effect than those with pre-existing conditions and millions of others will also see the benefit. That, and the country will see the benefit in the long run both in terms of treatment outcomes and the cost of healthcare.

Businesses will no longer offer insurance to employees as it will be cheaper to pay the fines. Stu man I respect you but really I have to ask you to stop and think about this. It is not set up to put insurance companies out of business, it was literally written by insurance company lobbyists. Imagine coming home to the board room and saying "yah we convinced the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT to REQUIRE everyone in America to buy our product". Even with the whole 80% has to be spent on healthcare thing they are still going to make out like bandits. Even in countries with fully socialized medicine there is a thriving insurance industry so you should have no worried there friend.

As far as small businesses, this is something that could play out several ways. On one hand, this is really a great thing for small businesses, they no longer have to shoulder the burden of providing health care (as a small business owner this is fantastic because it means you can just pay the stupid 8% and in return you get happy employees covered by heath insurance, as opposed to having to pay WAY MORE than 8% for the same thing if you provide it yourself. Middle sizede employers like mine won't be changing anything, and even if they did, I would probbaly get a better rate through the exchanges anyways. The middle class only benefits from this, and business is not hurt at all (in fact it benefits businesses of all size).
