    Facebook owns the word 'book"???

I read this on the news this morning. It's a bit frightening.

Slyly if not secretly, Facebook has just tightened its grip on the intellectual property right to yet another incredibly generic, remarkably common word: "book." As if the also generic and common words "face", "poke" and "wall" weren't enough, the company added "book" to its list of do-not-touch terms in a newly revised user agreement. This means that if you use the word "book" on the Internet in a way that Facebook or its lawyers deem unsavory, the social network can decide to sue you. This is not a joke.

The story can be found at this link.

It's a trademark issue, won't get sued for using the word "book" on a forum, lol

It's about domains, and registering domains that contain "book" -

Anyways the bottom line when it comes to facebook is this -

under all circumstances all the information that they have about all their users, they're free to use as they want -

It's just like in general email marketing where you get prospects to sign up to your newsletter -

the users are stupid because they're giving out way too much about themselves etc...
