I've been running it for a few weeks now, I like it a lot. I did download the official release yesterday though, so I could help the download record.

I downloaded it yesterday morning and all it managed to do was crash, delete my old firefox preferences and cookies, and spawn the talkback crash reporting software. I couldn't get it to work at all - even getting rid of old settings files seemed to confuse it and make it imagine that ghost processes were running preventing it from executing. I eventually had to get version 2 back from an FTP server or be stuck sans-firefox. Mozilla can take their world record and shove it for all I care :lol:

Damn, I just checked my Firefox after reading this and I'm happy that it didn't auto-update. It's still version 2.0.0.14. After that I even unchecked all auto-update-options. I guess I'll use Opera from now on, if I need some up-to-date functionality. I'm otherwise not so fast to bash a product, but I've already read some complaints about the new Firefox on German forums.

It's been flawless for me. I like the new changes. Opera's not bad, but their extensions kind of suck. That's the biggest reason I use Firefox, it's way customizable. Here's a list of my extensions...

Vulnerability found in Firefox 3 five hours after release.

Five hours after Firefox 3 was released to the public, security firm Tipping Point claims to have found a critical security flaw, which could affect any Firefox 2.0x or Firefox 3 simply by clicking on a malicious link. Exploitation of the vulnerability could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code.

Tipping Point said that it will not share any details about the problem since Mozilla is currently working on a fix. The discovery of vulnerability coincided with the release of Firefox 3, downloaded by more than 8 million people in the first 24 hours of its release.

The severity of this vulnerability is ranked as “high”, but an exploit requires user interaction such as clicking on a link in email or visiting a malicious web page. Once the issue is patched, Tipping Point said it will publish an advisory. The organization expects Mozilla to move swiftly into action and release the fix as soon as possible. "Working with Mozilla on past security issues, we've found them to have a good track record and expect a reasonable turnaround on this issue as well," said Tipping Point.
