    Buysnus and Facebook

So I went to buysnus to do a few mock orders and each time I clicked something (adding to cart, removing from cart), I noticed a "waiting for www.facebook.com..." down in my status bar. It tried a few times and then there was a "check4.facebook.com". Since I am not logged into facebook, I can only assume buysnus is sending each click to facebook.

    Anyway, anyone else notice this?

I think it's because BuySnus has a "LIKE" feature on many of their pages, it may have something to do with that. But I'm not an internet guru so I don't know how that would affect any "loading".

You better watch that crap. facebook is a blight on the internet, and they're trying to track everything you do. Anything facebook collects stays with facebook, and can't be deleted by the user. There's some SERIOUS implications with that regarding online purchases...

Agreed. After checking it more I think what's happening is related to their "Follow on Facebook" badge on the right side of the screen. The badge strip loads after the page loads and the facebook one is one of them, so it may just be loading the badge.

As much as Facebook is vilified, there are many other tracking sites out there as well. Facebook is just getting all the press. I do not disagree in anyway about Facebook though, just saying there are others we also have to watch out for.

Sure, but not many sites have the blatant disregard for user privacy facebook does. facebook will get away with anything it can, and only relents when bad publicity gets out. They continually have "accidents" that release user data, and users have to be hypervigilant to ensure their wishes are respected. It isn't enough to set things once. Settings need to be continuously monitored for unauthorized changes. AFAIC, facebook is a criminal enterprise whose sole purpose is to subvert their users for profit.
