I just stumbled upon this article from a Danish website(from October 1st, 2011).
It revolves around a female doctor named Susanne Strauss - she used to be a party smoker and as the vile prosecution of smokers roamed the country she started snusing instead.
Since portionssnus is illegal in Denmark(in all of Europe, actually) she has found a kiosk that sold portions and this is where she gets her snus from.
She tells about how it used to be a small deal with codes and shady deals but now it has evolved into a bigger business and the cornershops are now having the snus in display. Before she told the reporters more about snusing she had them promise that they weren't "snitches" since, according to her, "The entire snusing culture of Copenhagen was on the line"
The article tells about how the popularity has increased significantly and how acquiring it has become easier, although it's still a shady deal. She does however say that it should not be legal as it might hook people onto nicotine - but this still raises awareness!
She also states that snus is a lot more popular with women(!) than men, in Denmark, and other individuals claim that they have seen the same trend.
Her friend Nanna loves Thunder, while she herself is a fan of Catch! and General.
It is apparently quite big for sailors and surfers, since, to be frank, it isn't all that easy smoking while surfing or sailing.
This article marks a revolution for snus, as it is coming back and becoming increasingly popular in the nightlife - let's just hope this trend continues and we will soon see a fight against the portionssnus ban!
