I have to say, this story has been utterly captivating. The Guardian have done an amazing job of busting this whole thing open, and I'm proud to have been a regular subscriber for all these years. I've never been a fan of the Murdoch Press, so am pleased that they are getting their comeuppance. Hopefully they can find some dirt on Paul Dacre and the Daily Mail next.

I'm amazed that it's captured the US attention as much as it has.

The FBI is now investigating if there was any US hacking. FOX NEWS?

Keith Olbermann is going to cover the hearing tomorrow, on Current TV, with the Murdochs
in front of Parliament. It's on at 6:30 AM PST, 9:30 AM EST, US. To repeat 9:00 PM PST.

'Countdown With Keith Olbermann' to Cover Rupert Murdoch Testimony in U.K. Parliament Tuesday

3:14 PM 7/15/2011 by Georg Szalai

The Current TV host and contributors will provide live coverage of an appearance by the News Corp. CEO and his son James in front of a U.K. parliamentary committee from 9:15 until noon ET.

NEW YORK - A day-time edition of Countdown With Keith Olbermann on Current TV will provide live coverage of Rupert Murdoch's and son James Murdoch's testimony in the Parliament in London on Tuesday, Olbermann said in a tweet on Friday.

A News Corp. spokesman said Friday that chairman and CEO Rupert and son and deputy COO James Murdoch have been confirmed to appear in front of the U.K. Parliament’s culture, media and sport committee on Tuesday along with Rebekah Brooks who resigned as CEO of U.K. newspaper arm News International earlier on Friday.

"Really early ShowPlug: Tuesday AM Countdown will bring you special live coverage of Rupert Murdoch's testimony to Parliament on @Current," Olbermann wrote via Twitter on Friday. He later added: "Time of our live Murdoch Parliament coverage next Tuesday AM is TBD but 9:30 ET is a good guess (just leave TV on @Current all day: win/win)."

Late in the day, Current TV said it will present live coverage of Rupert and James Murdoch’s testimony under the title Countdown Special Report: Murdoch Testifies from 9:15am ET through 12pm ET. Olbermann will host and comment, with additional analysis and views from Countdown contributors and Murdoch watchers. At 9pm ET on Tuesday, Current TV will also air a two-hour highlight edition of the morning’s proceedings.

Countdown, which debuted on Current TV on June 20, typically airs live Monday-Friday at 8 pm.

Now, I'm not usually one for conspiracy theories, but the timing of this seems suspicious as all hell: http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011...rld-sean-hoare

LulzSec hacks Sun with 'Murdoch dead' message

          http://mobile.macworld.co.uk/busines...pe=allchandate

News International pulled down its UK websites yesterday after a fake news story was placed on the Sun website
By Leo King, ComputerworldUK | 19 July

KNews International pulled down the main Times and Sun websites yesterday after a fake ‘Murdoch dead’ news story was placed on the Sun website after a hack by Lulz Security. The spoof story claimed that Rupert Murdoch had been found dead in his garden. Readers clicking on the hoax story on thesun.co.uk were redirected new-times.co.uk, where the story was placed, headlined ‘Media mogul’s body discovered’. Lulz Security used Twitter to claim responsibility for the attack. Rupert Murdoch and his son James, as well as former editor Rebekah Brooks, are due to appear this afternoon in front of the Commons Culture, Media and Sport Committee. The Sun runs its website using Amazon Cloud services, though it is understood that Lulz security did not hack the core site. Instead they injected a preformatted HTML file into an old internal server at News International that is used to serve a content box which appears within pages delivered by the paper’s main Amazon Cloud delivered site. The spoof story claimed Murdoch had taken palladium, a radioactive substance, before dying in his garden. The Lulzsec hackers’ message warned Murdoch, “This is only the beginning”, and claimed to have a pile of News International emails that they would release. The hack came as another of Scotland Yard’s most senior police officers, John Yates resigned. Yates decided in 2009 that there was no need to reopen investigations into alleged phone hacking by journalists on its News of the World newspaper, which has closed. Yates was about to be suspended. Lulzsec also struck as Sean Hoare, a former News of the World journalist, who was the first reporter to expose hacking at the paper, was found dead.

This whole thing is amazing, I am so happy that it's happening. They got busted big time. Something liek 1/3'rd of the police force was on Murdoch's payroll. Prime ministers couldn't run for election without asking for his blessing first (like he was the godfather!), and they likely even hacked the phones of 9-11 victims.

Now the guy who blew the whistle on it was going to have to testify in court and he is found murdered as soon as this sotry gained traction. No surprises there.

Executives being arrested, Murdoch being hit in the face witha shaving cream pie during his testimony, this is my favorite story of the year! And di you see his trophy wife bitch slap that dude? She swatted him like a fly lolllollolo
