    I Pod or MP3 player?

I was going to buy an I Pod the other day but then I heard I would have to pay 1.99 a song and I can only hook it up to one computer? 95% of the members here know far more than I do about this kind of thing so if I want to be able to just upload music that my friends have straight off their computers or find music cheaper than $ 1.99 what should I buy and is there still anything around like Lime Wire or the old Napster?

iPod.. You can put any music from your itunes on it, doesn't have to be purchased from them though.

I'm anti Apple, and will never own one of their products, but the iPod isn't that constrained. You can use mp3s you ripped yourself, as well as aac tracks. The only issue is if you buy DRMd music, but I'm not sure anyone does that anymore.

You can hook an ipod up to your buddy's computer just fine. It will ask you if you want to sync the device with that computer and you just click No. Then you are free to dump whatever you want onto the device. Easiest way is to create a bigass playlist on your friend's computer, or folder, then dump into the ipod. It can only be completely synced to one computer at a time, so just don't sync it unless you want all of your tunes replaced with all of your buddy's music. Anyway, even the fiercest apple opponents like Lx will usually admit that ipod is king for mp3 players. Get one. Used ipods are a good deal. Mine flew out of my pocket on the freeway when I was riding my scooter one day and I replaced it for $80 using Craigslist

You should buy an iPod; it has an Apple logo on it.

In all seriousness, iPods have plunged in price. They are definitely superior to other mp3 players. FYI: iPod Classic is the best value.

Get a Ipod, get free Itunes, get free music, get free podcasts, get free audio-books (podiobooks) and many other sites for free stuff. I think it is the greatest piece of electronics I every got. I have something playing on mine 24-7 and if you are a little bit careful it will last a long time. I have a classic I got in 2007, even the batteries are still good, and if they ever fail there is replacements (kits) available. My 2 cents worth!!!!

I like my android inspire.. it actually had an app where u can download full songs for free. Its great having a phone/mp3 player in one. Im not doing an iphone again. The battery went bad in my old one and there is no way to replace the battery its irritating.

I would definitely go for an Ipod Touch which is basically an Iphone without the phone. Lots of places online for free mp3's (think Usenet, I find a lot of mp3's and movies there) and the apps can be great. For example, I am watching the Angels play the Rangers as I type. Got it for Fathers Day a couple of years ago and remember thinking it would be quite useless for me. Never happier to be so wrong.

I switched my personal phone from an AT&T iPhone to a VZW iPhone and I get to use it as my work phone. It's kinda funny that I never made calls on my AT&T one, but my VZW iPhone has been flawless. Along with my iPad (had the first one, now have a 2nd gen one) it makes for a pretty good mobile professional set up.

Every time you post I like you more LOL

I am anti-anti-Apple. I love my Apple products. As a matter of fact I am a corporate tool. What's the point of having something no one has heard of or no one supports because you are "principled". I say go with the flow, get the chip, drink the cool-aid, take the blue pill. Life is easier when you when you stop fighting.

I knew this thread would start another apple debate lol..

Edit - the gypsies added a hidden app on the iphone that keeps tabs of your location with gps so they can go through your trash and steal your loved ones panties. You've been warned.
