This seems just a little too convenient:

    April 04, 2011

    Huckabee's Gubernatorial Records Missing

Mother Jones: "There's a Mike Huckabee mystery that won't go away. Send a public records request seeking documents from his 12-year stint as Arkansas governor, as Mother Jones did recently, and an eyebrow-raising reply will come back: The records are unavailable, and the computer hard drives that once contained them were erased and physically destroyed by the Huckabee administration as the governor prepared to leave office and launch a presidential bid."

Where would anyone expect their loyalties to lie? If they knew they had to keep us happy, because if all of us voted all of us would control their future, they just may see things differently.

With public campaign financing and pathetic voter turn-outs, we get what we ask for!
We're about to find out just how apathetic the voters are when politicians way overstep what the people were expecting. They are expecting a 60-70% turnout here for a spring election in which the only statewide election is for a supreme court judge. Keep an eye on it.

This is about how I feel. Voted against Bush twice, and saw 8 years of stupidity. Voted for Obama and saw the same.

                          American politics are very complicated.

There are so many aspects of how it is structured and works to benefit the rich and those all ready in power. It would take a very long thesis to even begin to cover all the ways it is a failure from the point of view of the average person. Then it would take another thesis to explain how that apathy and distrust of the political system by the middle and lower classes are part of the plan in the first place.

I'd say if I had to expand on one point briefly, the most important factors are Lack of media coverage, lack of education, and lack of time or incentive to educate yourself on the daily business of the government.

My argument has been summed up for the sake of our low attention spans.

Basically it's like this: The American media does a fairly poor job of reporting on and covering details of specific actions taken while in office. Which means your average American only has a general sense of whats going on, and most of this is through sound bites and opinion pieces on and in various news channels and publications. The information is available and can be read, but it is written in legal terms and takes a long time to go through with a fine tooth comb and process. Most people do not have the time, energy, or education to do this.

Because the media has done a poor job in covering it, the education system as done a poor job in explaining how the government works, and no one has free time to spend going over what they're doing in a proper manner, the political discourse in this country has degenerated into vague repeated sound bites and insults with no real hard facts to back it up. Politicians themselves do this to the public, and people all over the place to this with each other. If you look at this thread and many others all across the internet, for the most part you'll only see general arguments, this candidate sucks statements, and extreme (i.e. so and so is a socialist etc.) terminology.

This is hardly a healthy political discourse or system. But it serves a purpose and if you look at all the factors surrounding it, and what leads to it, you'll see that this works in favor of politicians, political parties, and big business. It keeps the masses uneducated, dependent on government and big business, and fighting amongst themselves. It should be us against them but in reality it's Us against Us. Until that changes nothing in Washington ever will.

                              This is great!

She was clearly trying to bait "Trump" into a trap and ended up falling in herself by sounding like a regurgitating prepackaged robot.

Well put angrylolipop, awesome username too. They all act like Ghadaffi, like his recent letter to Obama saying "you are hurting a poor undeveloped country, we cannot solve our problems with bombs and missiles", when in fact he himself was claiming Libya to be the greatest of all the African kingdoms the other day and it was him who started this idea of solving our problems with bombs and missiles. But his soundbyte will be heard everywhere and those not informed on all the little details of the situation may start to believe his propaganda. It's the same with very single politician, they are in the business of making you believe you live in a world that doesnt really exist, the world portrayed to us in reality tv shows and the nightly news. It's all fake.
